My father had been diagnosed with liver cancer roughly 2 years ago, he had a portion of his liver removed because of a tumor. He then went through chemo, for a while. The cancer has since spread to his lungs. Now a new cat scan was done, a new 8cm tumor found on his liver, and nodules? in his lungs. My question is has anyone ever dealt with this or does any doctor know what his options could be?

    Hello,

You may want to consider contacting the American Cancer Society's National Cancer Information Center. Cancer Information Specialists are available 24 hours a day and may be able to provide you with information to assist you with your question. They can be reached at 1-800-227-2345.

You may also want to contact others on this discussion board through the CSN internal email system to see if they would like to share their experiences.

I hope this information has been helpful.

    Take care and be well,

    Dana

How frequently was your father getting lung and liver scans since his liver cancer? It seems scary that an 8 cm tumor was able to grow without being detected earlier. While I haven't gone to Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, it's been recommended to me as a place that has alot of experience with liver cancer. You might want to contact them.

Sounds as though he has carcinoid tumors and/or malignant carcinoid syndrome. Mine is localized to the liver yet it can spread to the lungs. You can find an endless sea of information on the internet if you google/yahoo search for "Carcinoid Syndrome".
