Forgive me if I missed the post this Memorial Day Weekend, but I didn't see anything like this posted as of yet this weekend and I know some had talked about starting a thread listing everyone we can recall whom we have lost on the colorectal board this past year. BTW, I did just notice today that CSN does have a general board now called "In Loving Memory", which anyone can post a memorial for someone they lost to cancer. Being very tired at the moment I'm writing this, I don't want to post some info without all the info for people we've lost, so I'll leave it at this and leave this open for people to add names and information for our dear friends that we've lost here this past year. |

Oh man. I didn't read that Roy Peters had died. I sent him a PM because his cancer was so much like my husbands. He got right back to me and then I didn't see him anymore. So sorry we have lost these people.

Add DanR to the list. He didn't have colorectal cancer, but had esophageal cancer and was on that board. He communicated back and forth with me through PM's when I was looking into going to see Dr. Cantrell in Nashville back in Nov/Dec 09. He made a post or two about Dr. Cantrell's treatment on our board back during that time. Dan passed away in January 2010.

Along with all our Veterans today....
Thanks Lisa for getting this started. I wanted to start it Friday but I've just been too busy. It seems the few people I remembered from the beginning of the year have been mentioned and I'm glad I have a place now to go back to to remember who they were. I guess I will put up a rememberance for R&B singer Teddy Pendergrass,(colon cancer) January 2010, 59 years old. And although not this year I'm still remembering today , My Mom June age 72 from brain cancer and a good friend, Ron age 39 from Lymphoma. Plus many more from various cancers (unfortunatley)... Let their passing be an inspiration instead of a sad memory. This is a battle we wage against an invisible foe and each that goes before us leaves their mark to guide us.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal,
but Love leaves a memory no one can steal.

cancer in the family
So sad to read of so many who have family members who have died from cancer. Wow- Donna lost both parents to different cancers in their 40's. I have absolutely no one in my family so far who has had cancer. I have the "honor" of being the first.
May everyone who has gone on be in a better place now and may their grieving family members and friends have fond memories of them.

I have a list
on my fridge of the semi-colons I've met in person or talked to on the phone a couple of times (yes you are on that list). That is how I remember some of the names. I missed a few: Nettie42 and Mary come to mind the quickest. Your "short list" made me cry since they were some very special people. I know this thread was for the last year but I couldn't stop that abruptly.

It saddens me to read of so many wonderful people who lost their battle with cancer. It makes me mad as well because we haven't found a cure yet. I will keep these people in my prayers. When I heard of people who lost their battle it reaffirms in me that we are all on God's time. Some live for years with cancer and others last a few months. It's not how much time we have here but how we have spent our time while here; that's what's important. May God continue to bless you each day, and may you see and recognize those blessing.

Well...not just cancer
Well...not just cancer kills...drunk driver's too (and of course they make it alive, but the innocents who drive safely and not drinking usually don't...):
In a car accident:
Dad: 9-11-05 (at age: 31)
Brother: 9-11-05 (at age: 11)
I was only 9 years old...I thought this was more than enough...but then came the monster (cancer):
Mom: 6-22-09 (at age: 35)
........there's no single day I don't think of her...I miss her as well as the rest of my family...sometimes I ask: "where did my family go???" Life is not fair at all! But I will become a scientist in the area of cancer and I will give a revenge to cancer!!!!!!! I will study very hard to reach this goal!!!!
