Pancreatic Cancer and Shea Medical
Here is my story. I was diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer at the age of 67 and was devastated when the doctor at first told me that the tumor was operable, only to find out later that it was not. That is when I found the book by Ty Bollinger "Cancer: Step Outside The Box." In his book, he had a reference to…

Survival with comorbidities
Breast cancer survivor here, age 78 at the mo. Recently in Cure Magazine I read a section on older breast cancer patients having a 50% survival rate. However, with comorbitities (which I have in spades) the rate drops to 3 to 5 %. A bit of a shock. But all the same I'm hanging in. Anybody else in such a situation? How do…

Islet Cell Cancer
Although I'm only 73, I've had this cancer since July of 2009 and was told "it would take me in 5 years." 28 radiation treatments, two cyclyes of Adriamyacin and Streptozocin, 12 cycles of Sutent and 1 cycle of Afinitor--I'm about ready to give up treatment. Why? Because since birth I have had epilepsy and since 13…

So many doing it alone in this forum
Hi, not sure where 'senior' starts but figure from the ages of others here that I'm on solid ground, since I am 61. I notice that so many here are surviving their journey alone or with little support, oftentimes perhaps because loved ones have passed on or relationships have gone by the wayside as we've grown older. I was…

Another newbie
Mornin' I hope being 65 qualifies me as a senior! Where to start. In early fall of last year I got a surprise one morning as a womanly function which had ceased quite a few years before began again! Off to the ER and then to the GYN. Ended up with discovery that I had two uterus' and endometrial cancer. When they did an…

Poem for those well enough to enjoy some of the things it says
Warning - When I Am an Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple By Jenny Joseph When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple with a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me. And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves and satin candles, and say we've no money for butter. I shall sit down on the pavement when I am…

AML Survivors Club
I am a 70 year old male with AML diagnosed last December 2010. Since then, I have gone through Induction, 3 rounds of Consolidation, and have made the choice to go with Chemo as my treatment of choice rather than Bone Marrow Transplant. I am currently in remission and on "maintenance" care at Dana Farber in Boston. During…
