Kind of off subject but need advice...
I have many wonderful people in my life. Several people have just found out my situation and want to pray with me all the time. They were never religious with me before and therefore it has never been discussed. I have different beliefs and do not wish to offend them but would rather not go there - how can I be diplomatic…

Off topic: Beautiful quote
And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Thoughts and prayers to you all today! Kim

Questions about Recent Tram Reconstruction
Last Week I had a Tram reconstruction and a lift of the other breast and I'm having quite a bit of difficulty with a burning sensation on the reconstruction side. I left the hospital with 3 drains all are out now and there is no sign of infection but where the stitches seem to come together under the breast (right under…

Lumpectomy and now starting radiation treatments
New to the discussion board: I had a lumpectomy (stage I, grade I, negative nodes) in December. Had the Oncotype DX test done and am low risk for recurrance. So I am not doing chemo and now started rad treatments and am using Aquaphor ointment twice a day to prevent, hopefully, skin problems. Also am trying Vanicream but…

Your pet! I have a basset mix (not sure what he's mixed with, but he's a bit on the tall side) who is adorable, stubborn, and not so bright, but we love him anyway! Our other dog is a lab/corgi mix, who is has black curly hair and is very short. His favorite thing to do is to bounce through the deep snow. He is 15 yrs.…

New to this board
Hi. I'm new to this board and site, but not to breast cancer. I am an ALMOST 4 year survivor, having DCIS and IDC in my left breast. My tumors were tiny, but elected to have a mastectomy anyway, thus not having chemo or rads. At the time of my diagnosis, early bc people didn't get Herceptin if their tumors were under 1 cm.…

Pictures of grandchildren
I posted 5 pictures from JJ's 5th birthday. They invited all 15 children from his preschool class and their families and 3 children from church and their families. All but 3 families were in attendance. Out of the 20+ children there was only one over the age of 5. Denise and Kyle had areas where the kids could play with…

Questions about Dexascan bone density
I received a call from the hospital saying my doctor has ordered a Dexascan for me on 3/4/10. Can anyone tell me what is involved with the procedure? Does it involve shots, intraveneous or otherwise? How long does it take? Do I need anyone to drive me there/home? Fear of the unknown drives me crazy! Elaine

Tram flap reconstruction
Four weeks ago I had a bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. I chose the tram flap for reconstruction. I am still very swollen and have been told by my plastic surgeon it will take a couple of months. I have some hard areas on one of my breasts and I am concerned about the tissue staying soft. Does anyone…

Just checking in
Hi everyone. I haven't been on for a while so I thought I'd update you on how I'm doing. About three weeks ago I stopped taking Tamoxifen (that I've been on since November). I was having so many cramping pains and just didn't feel right so my oncologist told me to stop taking the medication and see if I felt better. I am…

Reconstruction and Nipples
I had a double mascetomy and reconstruction 6 months ago. I have not had the nipple surgery yet and am wondering about 2 things. My breasts seem to be getting harder - I am told I need to 'squeeze' them hard and alot to break up the scar tissue. Has anyone found a way to deal with this? Or should I accept them getting…

lost range of motion in my left shoulder ANY tips to help?
I am seeing a Physical Therapist 2 times a week, and trying to excercise a few times each day. My husband has even built me a pulley! But I still can't get my arm to move around that much. I didn't move it much from Dec. 11 to Feb 1st due to 3 surgerys (2 with drains). I wish I had kept excercising it, but I had no idea it…

Saturday Funny....either that or we're doomed!!! LOL
Is this what it all comes to? A group of 40 years old buddies discussed where they should meet for dinner. Finally it was agreed upon that they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because the waitress's there had low cut blouses and were very young. 10 years later at 50 years of age, the group once again discussed…

The truth - funny
Once in a a while, but very rarely, men do something right !!!! Jack wakes up with a huge hangover after attending his company's party. He is not normally a drinker, but the drinks didn't taste like alcohol at all. He didn't even remember how he got home from the party. As bad as he was feeling, he wondered if he did…

Those of you who have had chemo & radiation, how long was it after chemo before you started radiation? I don't have a radiology oncologist yet. new side effect of radiation?
Just after my next-to-last radiation, I collapsed. I've been diagnosed with supraventricular tachycardia. We are not sure of the cause of it...radiation, exhaustion, stress, late effect from the chemo, or culmination of all. In any case, I have a medication to slow my heart beat and need to see my primary care doctor (or…
