Hello all!   I joined in May 2013 and went straight into the battle against colon cancer- restaged 3C.   I have not checked in here for quite some time but hold all fellow fighters and survivors in my thoughts, prayers, and heart.

If you are just beginning this journey, stay strong, be brave, and know that at this very moment, you have life.  Keep fighting.

If you were here when I joined, yay us!!!!   Though I wasn't vocal often (I had difficulty with expression during treatments), you all were so vital to my life force.  Thank you!

I am now 7 years NED.  I have been busy loving on my children (5), a new granddaughter, hiking and MTBing as often as possible, and just inhaling all that this wonderful world has to offer. Work also keeps me very busy as I am a nurse specialized in geriatrics with an emphasis on dementia.   I count my many blessings every morning when my eyes open once again.

As I have said, you all are in my thoughts and as I have been reflecting on this journey of my life, I would love a shout out from each of you.  How you are doing, years NED, or just hello.

Much affection,

Carol

I'm happy to hear another long-time voice, an awful lot have been silenced from then to now. Keep on trucking!!!!!.......................................Dave

It's so good to hear that you are NED 7 years later.  What a wonderful milestone.  I'm still NED 11 years after joining in February 2009.  This site was such an inspiration for me.  So glad that you are out there living life.  Wishing you continued health and thank you so much for the update as it's great to hear of long time survivors.

Hi Kim!   Thank you for saying hello.  I remember you as well.

Yes, hearing from other long time survivors is so heart warming and also, I would think, uplifting to those still in the trenches.  I remember hearing here time and time again "just keep swimming" and to me, that was so simple but powerful.

Congratulations on 11 years and best wishes for many many more.

Still here after 13 years Stage 4. I don't post as much but still read and comment if there is anything I can help with.

Stay safe all

I rarely check in here anymore but did when I was going thru treatments 8 years ago. I decided to check in today because I'm worried about the warriors fearing the Corona Virus. Stay strong!

Did you mean survivors who were old like me(sonn to be 88) or those who have bn mmbers for quite a while?

I count on either meaning since I joined in April of 2013.  LOL

Don't like restrictions caused by Virus but have no choice living in a home for seniors.   Seems like being in jail, only with very nice accomodations and no gards. LOL some more!!

Hi Everyone,

I joined in 2012.  I was a stage 3 signet cell colon cancer patient.  I am now 8 years NED.  Some days I just cannot believe that.

For newcomers - sorry you are here but this forum will help you with just about everything.  We have all been through some much and there is always someone to share or just listen.  This site got me through some very scary and dark times.

Oh goodness, thinking back to 2012, the year from hell.  And then 2013, which made 2012 seem like a walk in the park.  There aren't enough anti-anxieties in the world to get me to tihnk of those times often.  There are many of us still here.  I chose to go organic, I gave up wine, bbq, sugar.  All the things on the no list.  I did the treatments suggested and drastic surgeries.  I at broccoli sprouts on peanut butter sandwiches and drank almond milk.   I'm not sure if any of it was necessary or helpful or what to this day.  I'm still here.  Every day is a mental struggle as I was young and the doctors pretty much disfigured my body.  But I'm here.  And I dance.  And I have moment of joy and moments of depression.  I try to remind myself often of the days I was afraid of death and how I pulled through it.  I miss some of the OGs.  Buzzard, Dochawk, VickiLG, nanab, Johnnybegood, Leena, Barbebarb, even crazy, pushy Pete.  I have such a long list.  We were all just trying so desperately to survive.  My favorite will always remain how we were allowed to let go every Friday with one post.....What are you doing this weekend?  Everyone would drop their cancer for a day and talk about their weekend.  And then we'd pick back up on worrying on Monday and everyone would go back to arguing with Pete.  Every board should have that post and at least one crazy person=)  It really did pass the time and get us through some tough times.

To everyone still fighting, keep fighting!  There are a lot of people who do survive from stage I to stage IV.  I don't have all the body parts I used to have, I've been to hell and back, but I'm here and now it doesn't hurt as much as it used to.  I have some health issues but they're becoming more and more routine and manageable.  it's exhausting, it's overwhelming and you just want it to stop but you are worth fighting for, you can do it!

Just kidding!

Pete was one on his own, I think.

All of those names of frends now passed that you mentioned. And Craig - The Lion. Ren, WinterMarie, LilPep (Pepe), Lisa, John, John Anderson, Lizzard (Grace), BigMan4Christ; and so many, too many more.  And we don't forget husbands of members like LindaK, LivininNH, Kathy's, Angelsbaby, GeoTina and Your husband, Wolfen. Our most recent losses, Barb, Karen & JanJan.  None of them forgotten by us old timers.  We mourn their loss and live our promise to honour them by living life to its fullest.

Its good to see you here Helen and Wolfen.

Oh my goodness, it was so good to see your post.  Yes, we had "what are your plans for the weekend".  Pete used to push us to lengths we never knew, did every test possible to man, yet he was on here every chance to give us his treatment data, new studies that have been introduced to him and how he handled them.

I've been here a long time, so I've seen so MANY people that have passed.  I've cried many times on here when there was a passing.  It was so hard becoming "family" with so many that you have never met, but thought you knew right here on the board.

Once again, it's so good to see your post.  I'm glad you are doing well and living life.  Please come back and update us again-we would love to have you share some of your journey.

Hugs!  Kim

Helen, so good to hear from you and I absolutely love your post. Glad to hear you are doing well, still kicking butt and taking names. You brought a smile tinged with sadness remembering our wonderful old friends. I miss my Johnnybegood every day.

Take care,

Wolfen

Wow it's so great to see your post as well.  I'll never forget the picture of your daughter on her front porch and then again with her horse.  We were diagnosed about the same time and remember her posting such positive posts even though she was going through so much.  She loved her horses and it made her so happy to be able to go out there and ride.  Also remember your hubby and the struggles he had and how much you have gone through with his loss as well.  Wishing you the best, dear.  Thank you again for your post - hope you are doing well.

Hugs!  Kim
