On June 20th I celebrated 1 year NED! My birthday is the 30th and I am so thankful to have it every year now. I go every 3 months for exams and blood work, and have had no problems at all. I am so thankful and so blessed! I just want to encourage others that get diagnosed to know, there is hope! (just a brief synopsis..I had stage 3 endometriod adenocarcinoma, had a complete abdominal hysterectomy Dec 22, 2016, 6 rounds of chemo and 3 brachy theraphy radiation treatments, finishing June 20th, 2017). Keep the faith, take one day at a time, be thankful for each day. Life is precious. |

Hi Cass
I will have surgery next week, with endometrioid adenocarcinoma grade 2 so far.
I am happy for your 1 year NED.
Can I ask you If your cancer was in any lymph nodes?
Have a great day

They found it in 1 lymph node so removed that one, then took out 7 more and all 7 were clear. Anything else I can help you with, feel free to send me a message too :)

Hi Cass! I’m new to this but so happy to hear your
good news. I was dx with stage 1a/grade 3 uterine
cancer. I’m to have 3 rounds of vaginal brachytherapy.
Can you please tell me your experience with your radiation.
All the side effects I’ve been reading about are scaring me.
Would appreciate any other members thoughts as well. Thank
you for bringing good news and encouragement to us.

I had upsc stage 1a and recieved Brachytherap. There was some scarring that was a little painful when aggravated.... for about 3 months. It is much better now. The procedure was easy for me. I had no discomfort. That is my experience. Not sure if others were different.

It was vaginal. They wanted to save the pelvic radiation in case of recurrence. I am from Canada and am not sure if the protocol is different in the states. They changed things 2 days before I was to start the pelvic radiation.

side affects
Hi Doo57, so sorry you have to join the group, but we are here to help however we can! The radiation was the part I looked forward to the least, but ended up being easy on me. I had no side affects. When I go for my 3 month exams there is some scarring, which is normal, but it doesn't cause me any pain. I am very thankful that anything I read about, I didn't have happen. Don't read too much was something a friend told me, and it helped too :) Anything else I can do for you, just let me know! (I like to pray for others!)

Congratulations!! So good to hear encouraging news!
I was diagnosed 4B in Dec 2017. Started 6 round of chemo in Jan 2018. After a couple of delays on round 6 I finally finished. Follow up CT scan showed NED. Oncologist scheduled a laparascopic hysterectomy June 22nd. Results still showed no evidence of disiease. Can't wait for my one year mark!

Jbird, you had chemo before surgery? Bless! I bet that was hard. How did they know you were IVB before surgery?
Joined: Dec 2017
I'm not JBird, but
In my case, the radiologist found a number of suspicious nodules on the peritoneum and omentum via CT scan. Later, the surgical pathology report did find some cancer on the omentum sample.
Of course, suspicious CT and PET scans do not mean trouble 100% of the time, but it does alert the onco to really pay close attention to those particular areas, and often, treatment proceeds as if the initial opinion (or guess!) is indeed the stage. Because of that CT scan (and. of course, the biopsy that followed), I underwent neoadjuvant treatment ... the initial three CT scans before surgery, and five later. The purpose of the initial three scans was to shrink or eliminate the nodules as much as possible before surgery.
