Had the third 3 monthly scan after metastases yesterday. The procedure was somewhat fraught, I have been vomiting for several days now. It seems the very enlarged lymph up in my chest is pressing, not uncomfortably against my gullet. Swallowing is becoming difficult, so the blender and I are now attatched at the hip. Sadly the positioning of the rogue nodes makes them impossible to remove, such a bum deal! I will be making good use of my prayer mat for the next week I can tell you!

Glad to hear from you. Sad to hear your news. Have been thinking of you for a few days. Now I know I should have been praying for you. Hope you can find something interesting to eat when you feel up to it. When I had my tonsils out in my twenties my dear hubby individually blended a whole roast dinner so I could still eat it and enjoy it. Hope someone is making a fuss of you while you feel so rotten.  Praying your pills start shrinking the lymph nodes soon.

Heaps of love and I will be adding my prayers to yours, Melissa xox

Oh Djinnie! I didn't realize how badly you were feeling! You are always so upbeat and full of jokes and funny anecdotes. I am praying alongside you, girl.

I am hoping your scans will reveal some solution to relieve your symptoms.

Big Hugs,

Jojo

I am so sorry to hear that. There's no other word for it than it just plain sucks! I really hope there's a way to relieve the pressure so you can resume a normal diet. My prayers and thoughts are with you as always.

DJ, I have a new theory. It states that cancer has the ultimate goal of trying to kill it's host. Stupid disease. But when it is unable to do so, it just commits to making life miserable and uncomfortable. Pain here, weakness there. Some diarrhea followed by constipation. Weight loss, fluid retention. Opiate addiction. Mental decay. So, as mentioned many times, we have to contend with the misery. With no end date. Then along the way, the cancer will expose it's vulnerability. New or improved treatment will eventually destroy the disease. Against all odds we will be victorious. The trick for us is to figure out how to continue not losing our mind. Time goes by and voila! We will endure. People like us have an advantage. It is being able to open a heavy door through committed effort. Then being able to walk into the dark space without hesitation. It is like being an explorer going into uncharted territory. There is no turning back. Only forward progress until we exit the other end. And we do that not knowing what bizarre encounter is ahead of us.  You see, cancer hates happy people. It thrives on misery. So we don't ever feed it. We replace that with a song loop that we can't get out of our head. It is happy, infectious, contagious and unbeatable. Nothing could be worse than not being a formidable foe. We take some bumps and bruises.  No big deal. We spit in cancers face.

WOW, well said Fox!! I admire your attitude, fortitude and advocacy!

Djinnie.. ENUFF!!! I am so sorry for all you are enduring. No wonder you have been on my mind of late.

Sending you a shoulder to lean on. Glad you are able to come here and share what you are going through.

This news just put my little issues into a different persepective.

Thanks for sharing this most vulnerable dilemma.

Hugs, with hope~

DJ, please hang on, but don't chip your nail polish.  Many of us are cheering and praying.  Your message earlier this year was an inspiration to find the light switch in the black hole.

Love, Donna

DJ, sorry to hear this. I hope you got my private email in return for the nice one you sent me. I have sent several emails out and it seems they are not working.  I am glad I did get yours though.  You are so very encouraging!  I know you were on Votrient, are you still on it?  Is there any chance for you to try Keytruda? Quite a few people seem to be able to get it easily now.  Sending you hugs and hope you found a good smoothie recipe! ;)  Stay strong and positive, cancer hates that!  Love and hugs to you.. :)

Hi Angec,

Sorry! I didn't get the email. Thankyou for the support though! I am still on Votrient, I am not so sure we have Keytruda here I will check on Tuesday. Mind you right now we don't even have any Votrient here either. The demand seems to have outstripped the supply, I can't get hold of any, Bretagne is completely out, there is a waiting list at the moment. How frightening is that, it just shows how prevalent cancer is now. My pharmacist is phoning around France to see if she can get hold of some for me, so fingers crossed.

Fox, you said it so succinctly!  Formidable foes you are-- one and all!  Every cancer researcher should hear your words.  I printed the page to hold onto them.  You inspire others!

Djinnie. God bless you, I am praying for you!

Djinnie - so sorry for all you're going through. But you've hit rocky road before and you've won. Winning is in your nature. Your positive spirit and grit, combined with the prayers and positive thoughts of your many friends here, will see you on the winning side again. Know you're in my thoughts and prayers. Stay strong.

Fox - we should have a bulletin board at the front of this Board and place posts like yours. That’s some awesome writing. From biker to philosopher, you’re the best. I’m printing your theory off and taping it to John’s bathroom mirror. I think all of us “in the fight” need a daily dose of this inspiration.  Thank you.

Thanks to all you's lovely people for all the comforting supportive comments. These things are sent to try us I suppose. I am not panicking just a bit peed off, it is hugely frustrating in that these cantankerous little blighters can't be safely removed. I feel sure though that my Dr La Guerre will have come up with a killer plan by Tuesday to bring them into compliance.

In the meantime lovely Nurse Pick comes every morning to pierce my derrière with a heady cocktail. It is certainly helping somewhat to stem the flow so to speak. Sticking to liquid goup is also helping a little, my husband, bless him, creates art work on my plate to make my meals more appetising. Like you Melissa I can't stomach everything blended together. I feel the only thing missing is a high chair, lol!

Strong motivational rallying prose for the troops Foxie, few could have voiced it better. As my historical hero Churchill once said in his war cry " We shall never surrender " I certainly don't intend to.

Djinnie, what about things like mashed potatoes or pureed veggies? Sounds silly but have you considered some of the baby food available since they're fairly easy to swallow. Or does it have to be more liquid? I have full faith in Dr. La Guerre and you coming up with a battle plan!

Thank you for the suggestions APny, it is very kind of you. To be honest it is difficult to get  anything much down, I also have protein drinks and I alternate them with veggie juice. I have one or the other each day and sip it throughout the day.

I am sorry for this, I hope you are able to at least find some variety to the juices. I know I drink a lot of veggie juice and switch brands when I get bored to alter the flavor. I also sometimes use a squeeze of a lemon and celery salt to liven it up some!

I'm so sorry Djinnie. Even the best tasting juices must get old after a while. I'm really optimistic that this is temporary and Dr. War will find a solution. I know there must be one.
