Grab a camera or your cell phone, take a walk outside, look for signs of Spring, and post photos here. I'll start with this one ... there is not much here yet in the north... but, there is promise. Best to all -- Cynthia It is spring again. The earth is like a child that knows poems by heart. Annalexandria kindly provided these instructions in a previous post to help those who may not know how to upload a photograph into their post: You click on "insert image" (the little blue/green icon in the tool bar below "comment") Insert/edit Image box pops up, click on the little box at the end of the Image URL box (says "browse" when you hover over it with cursor) File Browser box pops up, click on "upload" in upper left hand corner New box opens, click on "choose file" This takes you to the area where you can access photos on your computer (in my case, my photos are on Iphoto, for example), select photo there to add. (You have to click on "insert" two more times to get the photo into the comment box). |

I missed my chance to take a spring picture...
should have done it last week when we had wonderful sunny weather! Now we're back to our more typical rain and wind, with occasional sun breaks. So instead of a personal shot, here's a pic of the cherry blossoms on the campus at the University of WA...we planned to walk over to see them but they are all probably on the ground by now.

Just to clarify,
I didn't take these! I wish I had the skill to get shots that good. My pictures all involve headless people and weird colors. These I pulled from the internet, but they are from my neck of the woods, at least.

Spring Isn't As Dramatic in Sunshine State, but...
we still enjoy the outdoors and a good hike. Here are two photos from a recent hike we completed at Hickey's Creek Mitigation Park near Fort Myers, FL.
Here we encountered an endangered Gopher Tortoise in the "southbound slow lane" while we were in the norhbound lane. Judging from the look he gave us, he likely thought we were "hiking too fast." The picture was taken with a zoom lens to avoid disturbing this fellow as he appeared to be on his way home for dinner.
My wife of 39 years checking out a lovely flowering bloom along the trail.
It always good to get outside and enjoy nature. Thanks to all for sharing your nature photos and experiences. Great shots of some beautiful natural landscapes.

Thank you ... thank you everyone for posting
the wonderful photos. It has been such a long and hard winter for our family, and for so many here on the board. Feels good to take a step back and focus on the lovely world about us. The flowers, the hiking, and how about that tortoise! My next photo may have to be the ants that start to appear on my white kitchen counter with springtime. Now, if I can just get one to stand still long enough ...

so look for it. I can't promise my posts will always be photos I've taken, but I've have a huge collection of wonderful nature photos because of several classes I took with naturalist or environmental themes that required Power Point presentations. Also, can't promise it will be every week but it's certainly something we can strive for. Again, great idea and don't forget to contribute. Sometimes the best subjects are in your own backyard.

Beautiful yellow!
Yellow is such a Spring time colour. Here is a daffodill I captured a few years ago when I visited my homeland.

Trubrit. The color is so vivid it's almost like you can reach out and touch the flower. And, the yellow is so cheerful. Thanks for posting.

It´s getting warmer here in Iceland but we still see some snow in the mountains. The ocean is across the street that I live in so this is just outside my home.

What a spectacular view to wake up to...
every morning, Matta. It is awe inspiring. I do hope you'll contribute more photos of Iceland's rugged beauty. I do envy your living "across the street" from the ocean. The sea is truly my "placee of peace and serenity," but alas life's circumstances preclude my living in closer proximity. Please do post more photos.
Thanks,

It is my dream to live by the sea. I know it can get foggy (I'm English, I can do fog) and nasty but such beauty. And the sound of wavess, natures relaxer.
A wonderful picture Matta. That would be medicine to my soul indeed.

Very lovely.
I was trying to find information as to why so many spring flowers are yellow ... the best that I could get was that it is a color that certain insects, especially bees, see very clearly and aids pollination. Butterflies tend to prefer more showy pink and lavendar colors it seems. I know one thing ... after the lack of sunlight in winter ... the yellow color is joyful.

The mountain is white again after snowing yesterday. In the pic you can see the Geothermal Foot-bath that we have here in my small town, it´s wonderful to sit there and soak the feet, even when the weather is cold the water is always warm.

I, of course love my homeland, but I get to go to the Oregon coast at least once a year, and I LOVE it so much. My favourite place is Cannon Beach, though its all good.
