To all of the grest friends and confidants here on OUR SITE, I have decided to leave. I have gotten from this site what I needed when I needed it but have also battled some serious depression trying to get back to my new normal while also coping with a personal tragedy with my son.

In all honesty I am struggling with the bad news that come to our family when I log on and see a friend is not doing well.

God Bless you all

BEST!!

    I Will Miss You
Very sorry to hear you've been loaded down with depression, and have experienced a personal tragedy. It's hard enough to try to help yourself under good conditions. At least most of us fully understand the need to step away.

Please know that I wish you the best, and am hoping for smoother trails for my fellow traveler. And, of course, if you ever feel like doing a "drive by" visit to update us . . .

Do well. Find happiness where and when you can. Hoping it's often and in lots of places.

Forward, Mike- on with the rest of your new life. Hope you'll stay in touch with Greg from time to time, and if you do stop in for a read upon occasion- you're always welcome, here. Great to have made your acquaintance. Truly do hope you enjoy each and every day in the future, Mike.

You and Greg will always be the only two good people in St. Louis, though everybody agrees that Musial was as good a man as ever lived, and you once had a man named Brock who was all right.

I don't really know you except as a fellow member on this site. I totally get where you are coming from. It is tough even when not depressed to see bad news.
Take care of yourself and hope your struggle with depression can be helped.
I am sure you know that there is always someone on here to help you if needed.
    Peace to you

    To get and to give.
    Hi Mike,
I am glad that you have gotten so much from this site and I am just as saddened to read that you are going through a time of depression and a personal tragedy with your son. Please know that we are here with you in your time of uncertainty and pain and that you have given many of us hope and strength and that we sent it right back to you and your family. While it is true some of "our family" are not doing well many are and part of the reason for our success comes from "sisters and brothers, mothers and fathers "giving hope to each other. Thanks for your help, God bless, Josh r.

I hear what you are saying and I am following down your path. I believe sites like this serve a very meaningful purpose for a while but I need to move on with my life. I have spent way too much time making posts which at the time was good therapy and a great source of information during my rt. I have neglected too many things I used to do, just researching and posting and worrying. There is a lot of great info on Dawn's Super Thread and really the rest of the benefits are bonding with the people who are going through treatment with you, not people who are years out who just keep repeating what they went through. This is not a curable disease at this point in time and the best we can hope for is to keep it in check and die with it not from it. Personally, I am going to concentrate more on trying to keep my immune system in better shape. Take Care.

    will miss you
I shall also miss you, Mike. I think we started our journeys at about the same time. Diagnosis and first op Aug 2010 and rads and chemo Oct to Dec 2010. I am glad that you feel well enough to decide that you have graduated. I must admit that I only pass by so that I can try to give the occasional encouragement to someone taking the first steps. Now I mostly try to help people locally when I can; my ENT referred someone to us recently and we have been talking to them one to one.

Anyway, be well and enjoy life. Hug you caregiver. They were how we survived. Doug

    Take Care...
But I do believe the ones you are referring as "years out", are some of the foundations and resources that make this forum valuable.

A lot of the newer survivors, and newly diagnosed are not only seeking others going through similar situations. But what to expect in the future from those that have went through similar treatment of similar diagnosis...

They aren't going to find that from someone going through treatment at the same time... They haven't been there done that in reality. Plus we all know that most of the MD's can't relate to treatment as survivors do.

Not to mention that it's nice to be able to communicate with those others who are "years out". Knowing and realizing we are still around, alive, kicking, and quite frankly doing very well.

But each with our own history that might just apply to someone that hasn't encountered it before, or knowing that many have went through exactly the same thing.

As long as myself and others can still bring value here, and the newer people going through treatment see our "years out of treatment" of value, I plan on hanging around for awhile.

But, I am glad some as yourself and others have been able to get what they needed when they needed it to help get through.

Oh, and I also believe that many here are cured, and there is hope that many more will be cured and won't have a recurrence.

    My best,
    John
