But I do believe the ones you are referring as "years out", are some of the foundations and resources that make this forum valuable.
A lot of the newer survivors, and newly diagnosed are not only seeking others going through similar situations. But what to expect in the future from those that have went through similar treatment of similar diagnosis...
They aren't going to find that from someone going through treatment at the same time... They haven't been there done that in reality. Plus we all know that most of the MD's can't relate to treatment as survivors do.
Not to mention that it's nice to be able to communicate with those others who are "years out". Knowing and realizing we are still around, alive, kicking, and quite frankly doing very well.
But each with our own history that might just apply to someone that hasn't encountered it before, or knowing that many have went through exactly the same thing.
As long as myself and others can still bring value here, and the newer people going through treatment see our "years out of treatment" of value, I plan on hanging around for awhile.
But, I am glad some as yourself and others have been able to get what they needed when they needed it to help get through.
Oh, and I also believe that many here are cured, and there is hope that many more will be cured and won't have a recurrence.
My best,
John
While I understand why some need to move on, I pray not all oldtimers will go.... this site has helped me so much in my journey, and not knowing what to expect is scary.. Thank you Skiffin for expressing what I feel.0 -
Depression is like Hell
Mike, I just wanted to thank you for ALL the advice you gave Connie and I. I understand how devastating depression can be as I had a bout once when I thought I would never overcome it. It was easy to slip into and pure hell to come out of, but I made it and you can to. I have not been on the site too much recently and hope your son is ok. You have helped a million people here Mike and if you need time away for a while or forever, always remember yours words have comforted everyone who read them. Hang in There, Homer Price0 -

I always recognize your moniker when I sign on. Hate to see you leave, but I am getting to the point where my memory is shrinking on all the aspects of treatment and I may need to move on myself sometime soon. As long and Skiffin is here, I feel the folks are well informed. All the best to you my friend, keep plugging and I hope your life gets better quickly.
All the best,
Steve0
