I know how much I love my cat and know that most, if not all of you, also have a pet or pets. So, how about sharing something about your beloved pet or pets with us?

My dog knows more English than we know dog language. But actions we make let her know what we will be doing also. She knows putting on shoes means walk or ride. Me getting my purse means ride. She doesn't get to go all the time so she looks excited so we will take her. If we get her leash she knows she is going too. If we say "bye bye" she doesn't waste her energy because she knows she is staying.

Inside I might add. Both totally in love with my hubby. I tease him it is like Sister Wives without certain benefits ;). 1 typical tailwagging, goofy, glad to see you when you've only been gone 30 seconds; the other the princess: I'll get to it when I get to it, and oh did you re-enter my kingdom.

My husband was never an indoor animal person so hearing my have to finally banish the dogs from our bed (they needed steps to get on) just boggled his kids' minds.

Oh well they are part of the family, slobber, wet ears and all.

2 dogs: Cindy Lou, a shelter
2 dogs: Cindy Lou, a shelter rescue
Maggie, a street rescue (run over in front of our house)
2 cats: Grizzly, a feral vet adoption
    Impulse, a street rescue

I love them all! Cindy Lou is a 20 lb white terrier mix who is one of the sweetest pets that we have ever owned. She loves to snuggle and she has a very funny sense of humor.
Maggie has some issues as she was clearly abused, but when she smiles, it lights up our worlds.

Grizzly was shy, but has turned into a real sweetie, very warm and affectionate. When Katherine brings her kittens home to visit, he "talks" to them and plays very gently with them.

Impulse is the opposite of shy! He has always been extremely social and loving--part of why we adopted him. My only problem with him is that he stills wants out and my cats are inside only. Too many coyotes around here!

Thank you for this post. We animal lovers love to blather on about our pets :-)

    My sweet "Tootsie"~
my precious girl is a 10 year old 16 1/2 lb. dachshund. I have had her since she was 6 weeks old. In a crazy twist of fate, she was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 weeks ago~
She was such a comfort to me when both my parents passed away, and I couldn't get off the couch (she laid next to me constantly) and then when I was diagnosed and went through surgery and treatment.
Now, it is my turn to comfort her, and let her days be happy and comfortable. It is too invasive to treat at her age. So sad~
~On the other hand, my daughter has moved home from college, and brought with her a 2 year old Lab mix "pup" that she rescued. He (Duke) has such a joyful personality, always ready to play, greeting us at the door with a ball in his mouth, willing to sit, shake and speak for a milkbone~ and he has been so tender with tootsie, they nuzzle and when she feels up to it even play a little bit~
They sure are a part of the family~

As everyone knows you don't "have" cats
you are allowed to keep house for them because they don't have opposable thumbs to open cans for themselves. The oldest in our house, Misty, is a 16 1/2 year old gray tiger/tabby that was a rescue. The 2 youngest will be 2 in January and have been the source of much comfort and support in my journey. Cocoa (F) and Java(M) and brother and sister and what one doesn't think of the other one will. I never know what they'll be up to next. They DO keep life interesting though.

    2 pitbull crosses, 3
2 pitbull crosses, 3 indoor/outdoor cats/ 3 stray cats we feed. All rescues/adopted or abandoned. I love them all and they are all really good. The dogs LOVE people SO much. Bella gets so excited to see people she almost pees herself. The only reason I wouldn't get pitbulls or crosses in the future is because they need to be protected from uneducated people and other dogs that are agressive and their owners won't contain. They are not allowed to protect themselves because if a fight ensued they would be to blame no matter what the circumstance.

    Mulan
We have a 6 year old Golden Retriever named Mulan. We got her when she was 6 months old and that is the name she had been given. We could not agree on a replacement name so it has remained Mulan (aka Moo). We had been dogless for several years after our last Golden passed away. My husband was idly looking through the ads on Craigslist when he came across a posting for a FREE purebred Golden Retriever. We were about the 10th family to respond to the ad but we were the FIRST to make it over to meet the puppy. She was beautiful and we fell in love at first sight. The best decision we ever made was to bring her home. She was 40lbs when we met and is now 100 pounds of love - the world's best companion. She is completely people oriented. When we go to the dog park she is not particularly interested in the other dogs but is tremendously interested in all the people. She comes up to people from behind and startles them by putting her face between their legs. She also sits on top of the concrete picnic benches and noses people asking to be petted.

Thanks for this post. I LOVE to talk about my best girl.

I have 4 cats. One (kitty)
I have 4 cats. One (kitty) lives outside in her own house. She adopted us over 5 years ago and refuses to come inside. One 10 year old (Felix) who lives inside but hates everyone. My son's cat (Oree) who lives downstairs with him. Then there is Simon. Simon came to us right before my diagnosis. He just showed up one day and never went away. He is the cutest most loving cat I've had in a long while. He lives in our bedroom. Yep, in our bedroom. Felix, the king of the house hates him or any other cat that exists. So Simon has been my saving grace through all this. He has kept me company and given me a reason to get up each day. I often wonder if he was sent especially for this reason. He is the first bright spot since my dog (sandi) the one pictured passed 2 years ago from oral cancer. After she died I didn't want any more animals. I didn't want to feel that pain again. But I wasn't given a choice since Simon adopted us. Who says things don't happen for a reason?

    One wonderful doggie,
One wonderful doggie, Shadow, or as my daughter and I call her, Shazzy. She is a chow mix we got at the humane society and has been the most wonderful dog for 8 years now. Shazzy is our "guard" dog, when she closes her mouth one side "sticks" so you can see her teeth and it looks like she is really mean, so people are very cautious, but she is as loveable as can be! We also have 4 cats (all outdoor farm cats), Eugene, Greyson, Socks, and Furrball - if you're lucky they will "let" you pet them.

    Quirky, energetic, full of fun---
that's our 3-year-old Vizsla (Hungarian pointer), Jake. Jake is all about the fun--all day, every day. He has boundless energy and loves hiking and swimming in our pool. His favorite game is catching a tennis ball whether it's at the dog park or diving into the pool for it. Even though Jake is 45 pounds, he thinks he's a lap dog and enjoys cuddling on the couch watching tv. He sleeps on our bed with us. Jake was my chemo buddy as well--we spent many afternoons on the couch watching old movies together and napping. We love him so much.

    4 cats and 2 dogs
We have four cats - Kitty Katt, Tiger, Romeo, and Narpo (means ferocious in Tibetan) and until two weeks ago we had two Lab/Husky mixes, Bear and Tundra (my avatar). Bear had had seizures all his life and on 10/2/11 the seizures just wouldn't stop and he's now waiting for the rest of us at the Rainbow Bridge.

Still have to include him in the family cause I miss him sooooo much.

    pups bath
We have Henry (100 pound 6 year old lab) and Scooter (65 pound 14 year old lab) and Dodger (8 pound 13 year old tabby cat) and Cloe ( 12 pound black and white cat)
Last weekend the pups were in desperate need of a bath. As it is very arm intensive and I am having LE issues, I opted for hiring someone to bathe them. TLC mobile pet grooming drove up to the house! Scooter was less than pleased, all he got was a wash. He wanted to leave but would not leave with out Henry. Henry thought this was the best thing since apples! He had not just one but two people focused only on rubbing him down! You could tell he was in heaven. Then they broke out the blow dryers and he fell in love! I don't think he has been that happy in a long time. It was well worth it!

    Pretty obvious, 2 Papillons
Howie and Honey. Howie is a little jerk and barks when hubby and I are talking because he is so jealous - wants hubby all to himself. But hubby has been working nights for 6 weeks and Howie has become my 'bedbug' a little cuddler. Howie is 7.

Honey on the other hand is the sweetest thing on 4 paws that I have ever met. Got her during rads and she was the only thing that got me off the couch or out of bed. Honey will be 2 in December.

Buddy the cat showed up at my old job (a vet clinic). When the vets retired, I brought Bud home with me. Bud is about 9.

I brought up the question of a kitten tonight, I know several are available and hubby said no. I have always had multiple cats, so I'll wait til spring and get one. Also, Honey's parents may have more pups and we are very much considering another. I waffle between loving these 2 so much and not wanting to spoil our little group and wanting a to have a 'herd' of them. I am an animal lover, we've had bunnies & guinea pigs (love them!) too.

Always a fun post, thanks Susie!

    a bunny!

an adorable bunny who, like my daughter, if he doesn't get his daily does of bunny loving really gets upset. He will start ripping at magazines or books on the floor or even the carpet!!

he's a chocaholic like the rest of us and we cannot leave any chocolate on the coffee table because he will jump up onto it and grab the chocolate! This concerns me because of his finicky digestive system that can't handle non-bunny food.

    my babies
I have Mickey, an almost 15 year old poodle. He is more sluggish now, but bring out his leash and he acts like a puppy again. He loves his walks!

And then 3 rescue kitties. :)

Lizzie---1.4 pounds, sitting in the street, crying, and I nursed her back to health.
She now weighs in at 6.9 pounds and sweet as can be.

    Sammie--a momma's boy--me being momma :)

Siete--my daughter's-- who seems to have become mine since her apt. doesn't allow pets.
Siete has 7 digits on one paw and is a Hemingway cat, very much a people cat.

    I have 4 cats:
    Ebony - age 8 - a rescue
    Fluffy - age 6 - a rescue
Tux (my avatar) & Blackie - littermates from a friend

I am also a "catsitter", so sometimes I have lots more cats. (They don't
come to my house--I go to theirs.)

I like dogs, too, but haven't gotten one since ours passed away.

Pets are such a comfort, esp. in the middle of the night!

    Nellie
Nellie is my cat. I used to have 3 cats until I found out I was allergic to cats. Nellie is too old to make a change of homes so we will keep her until she passes and then perhaps get a dog. The allergist thought I could handle one cat.

Nellie has arthritis in her back because she was kicked a lot by the room mate of my daughter. That is why she came to live with us. She meyows on the days that the arthritis is bad to warn us to be gentle. She is pretty smart too as she can usually pick up on when we need to snuggle up for a few minutes.
