    Don't count your chickens

I am on Irinotecan not the whole folfiri. I have not had the diarreah. So you may not get it. Don't count on those chickens before the eggs hatch. I also had folfox.

    Good luck with it all.

    CPT-11 diarrhea
As mentioned, don't count your chickens before they hatch, but if you DO get it, it's fairly easily managed if you stay on top of it. I've been on CPT-11 quite a few times and only had to get extra fluids for dehydration from diarrhea once. They will always start you with Imodium, if that doesn't work, Lomotil usually does. Neither of those worked much for me, but Hyocyamine 375mg worked like a charm! Also, once a month shots of Sandostatin made a WORLD of difference. Here's praying you won't have problems and will have smooth sailing!

    Still doing fine
    Pepe,
I am on the same dose of Irinotecan as the folfiri regime. My usual working routine is to have my treatment on Friday. This allows the weekend for recuperation time and then go back to work on Monday, half day if needed. Since I haven't had the diarreah, I have been able to keep up pretty well. Started Irinotecan in July and up my dose in August. I'm on Vectibix too. The fatigue was more noticeable with the increased dose. Also the fatigue will be accumulative. The irinotecan gave me some abdominal cramping which caused nausea. They gave me atropine for this and it helped. Just take it easy and see what happens and then deal with it. You can do this!! :)

    Hugs,
    Valerie

    immodium
I'm on xeliri but face the same issue with diarrhea from the CPT-11.

I have been lucky so far (have had 5 cycles). I have had episodes of dramatic diarrhea each time, but fairly easily controlled with Immodium.

My oncologist gave my strict instructions (take 2 immodium, then one every 2 hours for 12 hours. If not resolved, call him and go to hospital). So far I have never had to take more than 4 immodium, and usually the first dose or two takes care of it.

It's good to be aware and prepared -- but I hope you are one of the lucky ones, as I seem to have been so far

    Yucky diarrhea
I, unfortunately, have had to deal with diarrhea. (Always had a sensitive belly). I am going at this with a preventative method that seems to be working great. Every morning I take probiotic acidophilys 10 billion active cultures. I found it at the local health food store. In the doctors office where I work, (a pediatric office) we often recommend this and yogurt for little ones with diarrhea due to antibiotic use or viral diarrhea. Hope this helps!

    traveling
I did do some traveling, just was always VERY careful about what I ate and kept my meds on hand in case! Something else that helps is rice water. Boil a tablespoon of rice in a cup of water until the water is milky. Strain it off and drink it, adding a bit of salt if you need to for taste. This has always helped with diarrhea.
