OK, so we've all had our fun over the weekend and Monday is upon us once again. Let's all set our goals for another productive and good week filled with progress, fun, and contentment.

So, I have alcohol on my mind. And no, I haven't already started drinking this morning :). In fact, I am thinking of taking a big moritorium from booze. I'm not happy with my consumption of it, especially this weekend. I spent most of my Sunday out with various friends and found myself drinking even when I didn't really want to. Almost out of habit, I would grab a glass of wine or mixed drink. I don't like doing things mindlessly, especially something that isn't really good for me to begin with. Then last night, I became very anxious, thinking about how I was damaging my cells and maybe contributing to a cancer recurrence. It was not a good feeling, and I slept poorly. That's a pretty good signal that I need to stop. Soooo, here are my goals for this week.

-- Continue to cook and eat healthy meals
-- Make my 1 year mammogram appointment, and oncologist follow-up, for November
-- Think about how to really move forward with my film making
-- Drink NO alcohol
-- Work steadily at work
-- Relax in the tub one day this week

So, ladies, what are YOUR goals this week?!

    I'm on Board....
Mimi, I have been questioning my drinking also and have decided to take a break too. You are describing alot of my drinking habits as well. I am going to make it my goal this week on NO alcohol either.
Also, I am going to force myself to rest, rest, rest (tough with these roofers & painters!) so that I heal well and feel like I am on the mend by the weekend.
These will be big goals for me this week! Thanks Mimi, I love reading everyones goals because I get so inspired by so many of them.

    Haha... still on last
Haha... still on last Monday's goals. I was sick all week, pfft. Also had the new nipples canceled (were going to be reconstructed today) due to flu.

So... still working on the hat/clothing guide from last week. Recycling is good, right? Even recycled goals! =P

My goal this week is to just
My goal this week is to just keep up. I have been so run down, that I can't keep up with anything, work, house, kids, laundry. I spent all day on Saturday (was a good day for me) playing catch up with housework and the like, so my goals are to keep up with my chores. Also, my doctor wanted me to cut back on my stress level, and maybe start excercising and eating a little healthier. So, I have started that this morning by drinking green tea with splenda, instead of sweet tea. Sweet tea and ice cream are my weakness. If I could cut them out, I would probably lose some weight. I also need to spend more time with my kids.

I hope everyone has a good week.

    I had my dentist appointment
I had my dentist appointment today and made another for the 2nd for cleaning. The receptionist didn't know I had Parkinson's and told me not to be nervous. They took x-rays and would say, "Hold still." I knew they meant my teeth so I didn't make a joke.

This week I will be making lots of flu food as my son is sick. Jello, soup, juice.

Clean the house good because I always get it a week later. I hate it that two flus are going around.

We are sooo on the same page
We are sooo on the same page regarding alcohol! I am trying really hard to be at least a week day non imbiber! There are myriad reasons ( nope, EXCUSES) to drink! One, I live in wine country, Two, I belong to a local wine club, Three, my "niece-daughter" is in culinary school and is, as we speak learning/tasting California wines and literally wants to share what she is learning, and Four: I LIKE DRINKING WINE! That's really my bottom line; I like pouring a glass of wine in the kitchen while I am preparing dinner, and then of course having wine with dinner! The rest of my life is pretty darn healthy~ I eat well, and exercise a lot~ in addition to my regular 5 miles at the now cold, un-godly hour of 5:30AM, and the 5PM Jazzercise 3X a week, I am also walking the new puppy! Wah Wah Wah~I can just about talk myself into DESERVING wine at this point! LOL

But I am really determined not to drink until Friday...and hopefully that will make the weekend just that much sweeter!

Good luck on all of our goals, everyone!!!

    Hugs,
    Chen♥

    Pammy,
Good luck on your surgery. I know it will go well. You are absolutely right: your goals this week should be to take it easy and heal. Eat nurishing foods, watch your favorite films and read your favorite books. This week is all about taking care of your body. We are all thinking of you!

    Hmmmm My Goals -
Get through this week, and from Wednesday on, forget about anything concerning the boobies. Of course that will be hard what with bandages, etc., but the fear will be gone. Then maybe on the weekend, take my Mom for a drive up to Frederick or Hagerstown and a nice late lunch/early dinner. Gee, it sounds like I might actually do it this time!!!! No more procrastination - that's my main goal!

Yes, you reminded me that I need to do a load tonight, too. The whites and cold water wash need doing...

Have fun not fishing this week! We're going backcountry camping this weekend, but I would rather just hike and relax in the woods instead of carrying a heavy backpack around for miles. Oh well, I will try to enjoy myself.

    Hey, J,
Sorry to hear about the nipple cancelation and your flu. Sucks. Definitely, recycled goals are good. Can't wait to see your hat/clothing guide.

    Enjoy work with no students!
That is my number 1 goal for this week. Actually get a few things done without the everyday crisis with students. I'll include GO HOME WHEN TIRED in this one (didn't do so well last week) I need to remember that they functioned just fine with my problem students when I was gone for 2 1/2 weeks, they can manage an hour or so at the end of the day. It's not like I'm not coming back the next morning. Number 2 - stay with the healthy foods, Number 3 - Get questions ready for my onco appt next Monday - any suggestions? Number 4 - take an evening and read a book! Have a great week everyone! Lola

    Goals for the week
I haven't joined you before in making weekly goals, but I think it's a great idea and I'd like to participate. Tomorrow, I have an appointment with my plastic surgeon, so my main goal is to get a surgery date for my reconstruction. It's been three months since I finished radiation and I'm getting pretty anxious to move on. My second goal is to write on my blog at least once this week, and my third goal is to go to my Curves exercise class at least three times and not try to come up with some lame excuse why I can't go. Also, I am going to lunch with my sister-in-law tomorrow, so that will be a pleasant break.

How are you doing so far, Chen?
Well, it's Tuesday. So far, I have avoided alcohol and been pretty good about eating. HOWEVER, I made the mistake of bringing money to work today. Bad idea. I already bought a pack of chips (the popped kind, 3 grams of fat) and a pack of jelly bellys. Still OK on my fat levels, but really unnecessary to eat all the junk. I should have saved the jelly bellys for the movies or something. Ugh. Trying to get back on track.

    Become more patient
That is my biggest goal for the week. Lately, I have gotten upset with most of my friends when I feel they don't understand, or if something small happens, I get so upset. I am still learning how to control that but i hope time will help me change. On the topic of drinking, man is it hard to resist the temptation! Most of my friends and I have just turned 21, and of course we always want to go dancing or to the bars. So its super hard for me because I feel like I am missing out. Plus I love to dance! haha My other goal is to be on top of all my readings and maybe start on my readings for next week. I will have to miss a couple days in the next 2 weeks because of appointments and surgery. I am supposed to graduate in the Spring. :D

Glad to have you on board and making goals. How did your appointment with the plastic surgeon go? I'm sure it can be frustrating to wait for reconstruction. You just want it done and over with. Hope your exercising and writing are right on track, too. If not, that's OK. Just hop right back in there! Good luck.

    Express,
I'm sorry you are going through this so young. Have you been on www.youngsurvival.org? There are other very young, college-aged survivors on that site that you can connect with as well. You seem to have a great attitude, and there's no reason you still can't go dancing. Good luck with everything.

My goal for the weekis to start walking 45 min. per day. I will love it anyway..the next one is a little harder, but I am going to start a diet. mostly just eating more nutritiously.(is that a word?) anyway I wish us all luck with the goals that are important to us and our loved ones.

    Those are great goals, Jackie
And 45 minutes a day at a brisk pace (that you can build up to) will really lower your recurrence risk, not to mention making you feel all around great. The diet is also good. Start out slow and change one thing and go from there. Wishing you the best; I know you can do it.

    Two goals met
My appointment with the plastic surgeon went great today. The surgery is set for December 16th. I know that sounds like a long way off, but I chose that date, because now I can do the things I had half-planned this fall, and get ready for Christmas, then relax, have the surgery and spend the month of January recooping. I feel like I've a weight lifted off me now that I have a date and can carry on with my other plans. I'll be having the DIEP Flap. I had read about this and thought it's the one that I would like, if my surgeon was qualified to do the surgery. He's one of three in my area that is qualified, so I'm really happy about that. I met my sister-in-law for lunch after my appointment and we had a wonderful visit. All in all, it's been a good day. Tomorrow, my second visit to Curves for the week.
