Wow...three, zero....did I really do thirty of these? I am finally down to counting the remaining ones on one hand. I feel like the little caboose that could!!
I did get to experience a new side effect today.....peeling. And the peeling is making me itch, itch, itch!! Ewww.....and it keeps coming off in itty bitty pieces that are more of a "flake" effect instead of peeling. Ugggg.....boobie dandruff!!
Also the skin underneath is stingy some, but tolerable. I think I have decided although rather irrating, all in all, I will live through it.
So, I am proud to report, boobie dandruff and all....I am trudging along!!

    Boobie Dandruff
You are just too funny, Pammy.

I had the same condition and was given Silvadene. It's a prescription cream that your radiation onc. can give you. (Aquaphor also helped.) Keep in mind, too, that you skin will get worse about a week after treatment; then it will start healing quickly. That is what my rad. onc. told me on my last treatment day. She was right. A few days later, sure enough, my skin was as bad as it ever got. Fortunately, she was right also about the healing process.

    You're almost done, Pammy!

    Thanks Diane & Moopy
Aloe doesn't help with the itching, but Benedryl does. Now that I am down to the boosters and it is concentrating on a smaller area, is all the rest that has been radiated done getting zapped anymore?
Thanks for the tip Moopy, I will ask about the Silvadene. I just can't wait to start using my scunchie or loofah again on the radiated area to remove all the dead skin cells. It's been weird just "squeezing" body wash over that area. Not sure if I feel clean enough. Uggg... Pammy

    Gulp!! All the way through?
Please tell me that she was joking! My heart is underneath that boobie! Yikes!! Actually, Lynn, I asked about that. It is suppose to be very precise in the measurements he did with the ultra sound that I hope it doesn't go all the way through! The only thing I can't figure out is that I am breathing during treatment....duh...my chest goes up and down like a merry-go-round! But I do trust them 100%.
Thanks Linda, I will hang in there! Yes, Boobie dandruff and all!!

    Hi Cheryl
I think you are the first person from West Virginia I have met! Where in WV are you? I have five (jumping up and down!!) more boosters left and I will be done with radiation. I get a break for 1 month and then will have surgery to remove my ovaries in October. Pammy

    Peelings, nothing more than Peelings!!!
Did you ever ask your doctor for a Prescription for Hydrocortisone? It works wonders on the itch; now might just be a good time to use it!

    Hooray Little Engine!!!

    It doesn't hit your heart
My radiation oncologist showed me how the blocks deflected the rays, and my heart did not get hit at all- only a very, very small section of my left lung. But the top part of my back near my shoulder tanned!

    Oh! and...
I asked about the breathing, too. I was told that breathing was taken into account in the measurements. Of course, this all happened almost a year ago. My memory exists on little yellow sticky notes these days. xoxoxox Lynn

There is nothing for you to worry about. My tumor just happened to be on top of my chest wall and directly over my heart. In order for them to radiate the area they needed to (this is not very common) they had to include about 5% of my heart and lung in the field. They were not able to "bend" the beams anymore and do what they needed to do. That is why I had to decide to trust my Doctors 100% or I would not be able to go through this part of my treatment. Your Doctors are doing everything they can to make it safe for you. My tumor was just in a bad position. Pammy

    YEAH PAMMY!
I am so happy for you......wish I were there........I should start rads sometime in September as I am now finsihed, two weeks ago, with chemo........Yeah! Did they make some sort of "cast" for your back and arms for placement on the table during rads? I think I was told that but not sure........chemo brain! I see my radiation oncologist again on Sept 9 to get the "boob"markings.....
Again, I join you in the count down! 5,4,3,2,1 YES!

    Not long now, Nancy!
I did not have a cast or mold made although I have heard that some have had this done. I had the tattoos and I am positioned by the laser lights. Usually they will put a foam wedgie under my right side just to raise that corner of me slightly. Teehee.....I guess it's because I am lopsided now and do not lay even!! Pammy

    Inconsiderate Post
Dear Pammy, I apologize for my inconsiderate post. I wasn't thinking about the people whose hearts and lungs do receive radiation. I know you think I sound wacky about tanning on my back - I think it was from having radiation to the lymph nodes at my collarbone and axillary area. I don't think the tech was joking. Lynn
