I am post hysterectomy and salipingoophrectomy for 10-15 years. A cat scan monday reveiled that i have now in my adnexa (previously where ovaries were) two very large masses. this is my first time ever writing does anyone know how this could have happened. im am following up with more procedures this week.

Hi, Sorry about the masses in your abdomen, I hope they are not tumors.

I had a total hysterectomy in 2002 (ovarian cancer) and I've been having follow-ups even though my markers say I'm cancer free. I asked my doctor why I needed follow-ups since I had no uterus or ovaries and he said it was in case ONE little cancerous cell had remained and perhaps attached itself to the peritoneum. A follow-up might be able to catch it at the very beginning. I don't know for how long should anybody be having follow-ups, I thought it was five years but I really don't know.

I don't know what salipingoophrectomy is. Does it have to do with the ovaries?

I wish I could give you more information. I hope those masses are benign.

    All the best
