I heard from the Oncotype lab today and they feel sure that my insurance will at least pay for seventy per cent and the rest can be written off. Even all can be written off, if need be. I have another problem that I'm wondering if anyone has had. My CT scan showed spots on my lungs and in my chest nodes. This has everyone perplexed since my nodes from surgery were clear. They are thinking it may be "junk" from the surgery, because of the pattern it is in...just a band across where my surgery took place. The bottom of the lungs are clear and my pre surgery chest picture was negative. They said this rarely happens and I'm on hold for a month, at which time they will do another CT scan to see if things are clearing up or not. This has me a little frightened. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Gail

I'm glad you decided to go ahead with the oncotype test. I can't help you with the other problem. I know a month is a long time to wait for news...but I'll keep you in my prayers. Keep a positive attitued. Teresa

Hi Gail, my husband had nodes that kept showing up on the CT scan and it was thought it was just debris after his colorectal surgery. So this is entirely within reasonable thinking. I can understand your anxiety but your surgery wasn't that long ago, right? And so neither were your presurgery tests of your lungs and chest.

We'll all keep our fingers crossed for you anyways ;)
    cheers

waiting is definitely hard to do. Stay busy and stay positive. I hope the time goes by faster than you expect and that you get the best possible news.

Are you talking about nodes or nodules? I now have about 15 nodules - 3 new ones on my most recent PET/CT scan. I referred to them as nodes the other day and freaked out my radiologist until he realized that I was talking about nodules. They have been watching them for 4 years. Each year I have a couple new ones, but they don't do anything. They never show up on the chest x-ray - just on the CT scan.

This is a band of spots over the area where my surgery took place and it is also in the lymph nodes in the chest. My doctor explained that maybe the nodes were just doing their job and filtering the debris and this maybe why the spots are there. They all use the words "we hope". They just called and told me my tumor markers are fine also. Another positive tidbit. Thanks for your help everyone. I am definitely trying to stay positive.
