lymph pump pix

if you have not seen a pump and garment...I posted pix on expressions page. The garments can be a bit bulky but they sure do the trick! Lots of different brands are out there...and the garments can be just arm sleeves, to what I have that also pumps one side of the torso, to complete torso and 2 arms, etc. The compressor weighs @12 lbs., so it is a lot to air travel with but worth the hassle. I just wanted to share the photo to those that have not seen a pump. //hugs to all

I just went and looked at the picture! That's something! Is it for lymphedema? (I haven't been on here a whole lot, until recently)
I'm so glad that it is helping you!

    MLD Machines
Yes MLD machines (Manual Lymphatic Drainage machines are for Lympedema problems. For me - my day sleeves and gloves and night sleeve with cover added wasn't doing the job on my hand and arm. Also have edema issues on shoulder, under arm, on back and across chest. So my L- Guy ordered mine for me - it's great but you are pretty much tied to one spot (an hour at a time for me) while using it as it is very clumbsy to put it mildly and the air tubes are about 6 ft. long. Picture of my machine/garments is at www.flexitouch.com

Your garments are prettier than mine
But then mine is a different brand (Mine's a FlexiTouch). Garments are a dark tan/light brown, machine is a tan and blue-grey and has a lot of velcro adjustments all over it. It also has 3 parts - sleeve, shoulder and above waist and below waist and top of right leg. One air tube goes into lower part, one into upper body and shoulder part and 2 into sleeve part. Mine takes an hour to run it's course as it first does localized massage (approx 6 min. on each section) - lower section then body/and shoulder and 3 different sections of sleeve starting at the top. Then it moves from the fingers, up, over and down continually for 30 min. Definately has helped a lot!

To me - mine looks like a samuari warrior's 'armour' (for a left handed warrior as it covers the right side on me..

I don't have a picture to post of it but if anyone is intrested in seeing the different look of the garments and the machine, you can go to www.flexitouch.com.

    Thank you for explaining...
I appreciate the explanation. I have lymphedema, but only use the sleeve at this point. It's good to know that if it should worsen, there are other options out there.

    Thank you,

    Day sleeve or night sleeve
Just wondering if you use only one or the other or both? They are different in how they work (at least according to how my L. Guy explained it) and can both be used.

    Susan...
I guess it's a day sleeve? I only know that my hand will swell to softball size and my arm swells and hurts. They are always swollen to some degree, but sometimes, just a little bit...other times, a lot. The onc's office gave me a script that just said compression sleeve and told me where to go & get it (a medical supply store).
My surgeon and breast specialist does have someone devoted full time to lymphedema evaluation and treatment (therapy). I could go there, but it's over an hour drive each way, and I just figured that unless it gets worse, I will just wear this sleeve.
Call me tired of the world of medicine for right now..lol!

    downside
he downside to the pump and garment is in traveling. It takes two carry ons to get the machine and hoses and wires in one...and the garment in the other with interior hoses. So...my husband travelled with me to mexico on this trip which was not the norm in my previous life :-) But he certainly needed a vacation after being by my side throughout this last year of treatments etc. I would not wish to pack any part of it in checked luggage due to loss factor. So, today after three weeks....I am return to usa for 2 weeks, but then back to Mexico. I have used the Kinesio Tape on my arm and hand today, plus will put on the DIVA compression sleeve and a glove for the air travel day. I will be off-line until sometime tomorrow. Hugs to all!
