Sounds like we are all readyHeatherbelle said:My husband & oldest daughter
My husband & oldest daughter actually watch the game, i just like the food & commercialsIt will be just us at our house, we'll be having buffalo and teriyaki wings, and i'm making a big tray of my taco dip that we all LOVE.
I agree 100% about the comfort food! And I'm still more than a little bit disappointed that the Chicago Bears didn't make it to the Superbowl this year.
*hugs*
Heather

ohhh Meena--tomato pie--my favorite. I have my mom order a huge one from a local Italian bakery every time I visit her in New York.
Okay--now nobody tell Ayse--but we're having:
Bar-b-que ribs, wings
Pasta salad
Baked beans
Rolls
Chips/dips
Some kind of outrageous dessert!
Remember--DO NOT TELL AYSE!
Hugs, Renee0 -
Of course, we have a common background, but I Love tomato pie, too! I used to buy it at the corner store for a dime. It was in a waxpaper baggie. We usually get a box twice a year or so.missrenee said:I wanna eat at VickiSam's Party and

So that everyone understands, this is not pizza. It was created by an Italian baker in Utica, NY. The crust is more bread like and the sauce is thicker. No mozzarella, but a sprinkling of parmesan. Yumm! (I'm drooling now)
Big hugs,

Does your local library have a copy of The Complete Step-by-Step 501 Delicious Diabetic Recipes? I bought the book because I love cookbooks with easy directions, calorie counts, and healthy food. It has lots of ideas for yummy food with sections for appetizers through desserts. You have to watch how many servings you eat of whatever you make, but the basic recipes look very tempting. They had an easy to make Hummus Dip. You start with a 15 ounce can of garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained and add 1 green onion cut in 1/2 inch pieces, 2 T. plain nonfat yogurt, 2 T. sesame seeds, 1 T. lemon juice and 1 small clove garlic. Process in a food processor till smooth and chill. Serve with fresh veggies like carrots, celery, snow peas, broccoli, and radishes. The yield was 1 1/2 cups. Each T. had 18 calories, 2.8g. carbs, .7g Protein, .5 g. fat, 0mg Cholesterol, .7g Fiber, and 33mg sodium.Veggies weren't counted in the analysis, so you have to do the honors there. The book was definately worth purchasing, but if you are in a hurry or not into books, google diabetic recipes on the internet and you should get gobs of free recipes that should work. Good luck!0 -

No Disney, you are NOT the only one! The only thing I know about football is that the Stupor-Bowl marks the end of football season! Which, in my mind is reason to celebrate!
LOL

Chen, I dont really care who wins tomorrow, but the snacks and food are always nice. We usually go to the clubhouse gathering and I talk to all the ladies who like me could care less who is playing. I'm not quite as indifferent as you but close to it.
Cousin Vicki did you say distant relatives are invited? I sure hope so and I'll tell you what, you dont even have to go to NY for the tomato pie because I make it and call it as my granmother and mother called it "sicilian Pizza". My kids love it and so do I and although it is NOT a WW plus point item on Super Bowl sunday it's ok.0 -
Stuffed jalapeno peppers...
I'm roasting jalapeno peppers stuffed with neufchatel cheese, wrapped in bacon, then brushed with bbq sauce for the last 10 minutes of cooking. An older gentleman who runs the produce stand near our home each summer gave me this recipe. Um, um, good!0 -

I am so not into football that I didn't know who was playing or when it was/is until I read these posts. So tomorrow for the super bowl that we won't/don't watch we will have chicken cordon bleu, baked potatoes, spinach and garlic bread. We might even have ice cream later or popcorn all while not watching the game. But for those that love the sport go team whoever you like. LOL
