Warning!!! don't do record breaking diving off the blocks into the local olympic pool
had a nap at kids school
went to the local pool for kids swimming squad.
did 22 x 50 meter great laps. record for me since surgery 4 months ago.
so my daughter mel says show me how far you can dive. i do this massive dive and feel the bag come away.
oh suger, luckily i wear a rash swimming shirt, it kept the bad stuff contained.
it was tricky climbing out of pool with one hand holding bag on and the other the ladder.
bowel cancer adventures, the fun!!!
my daughter said sorry, i told her no worries we learn from our mistakes.
i have learnt alot, its how i became so wise, only joking!!!
we agreed we will not try that again.
hahaha
it was great to swim after school, its still really hot hear.
i pray while doing laps good for the soul and the body.
cheers,
pete

stoma cap instead of the bag when you swim, maybe that would work better so you needn't fret about changing the color and texture of the water near you.....steve0 -
thanks steve but caps no go for my ileostomy per stoma nursecoloCan said:Tho I haven't tried one myself, if you can deal with a

rechecked with stoma nurse, the caps only hold 100ml .
if my stoma starts working it won't be enough she said.
i am also being harrassed by random diarrhea around first week after chemo.
i carry the anti diarrhea meds everywhere ( 2 x gastrow stop and codienes )
i'll just stop diving.
i was having such a good swim, for a time i forgot i had a bag.
it was good then i had my leak and i remembered.
hopefully my only pool leakage, i did not make a big mess and no one noticed but my kids.
i'll just have to be more careful.

you are awesome
omg - you are amazing and so positive! How can you swim with colostomy; I pretty much have been basically "hiding" at home since July of 2009 when I got my colostomy; I had a few "blow outs" (don't and hope no one knew at the stores where my daughter took me) but that burned me on going out. One of favorite things in life (of course, after my family and life) is water. just sharing, and I am sorry if I sound dumb0 -

we have all lost enough time and life to this illness so i am playing catchup, if you know what i mean.
i am not to self conscoius any more, i was fat to start with, so i just walk around the changeroom nude, i could not give a rats arse if someone gets scared of seeing the bag.
maybe they will say whats that for and i can tell them about prevention, that the bag ain't fun but that life goes on.
i am a scuba diving junkie and photographer, i could be underwater 6 to 7 hours a day chasing fish or whales. now i spend time getting pumped with folfox chemo. but in am getting close to the end.
as i said just do it.

Where are you located? You mentioned that it was still hot there. Just curious, cause it's freezing here with tons of snow. I am located in south/central New Jersey on the coast.0 -
