snow, snow and ice

Hi Everyone,

I am not sure if this is the 8th or 9th storm in New York. I live in the suburbs, 23 miles outside of NYC. It is very unusual for New York to get this amount of snow and ice. It is costing me a small fortune to have a landscaper come weekly. There is no way I would be able to shovel this snow and ice. Also, I am really suffering from cabin fever. I have such a fear of falling on ice. That's all I need. The good thing, my house is sparkling.

Thanks for listening to me vent. I love living up north, but this is getting to be too much.

    So glad
    So glad the storm is gone, unfortunately it dumped 14 inches of snow. What a mess. I live on a corner and of course everyone kept getting stuck in front of my house.

    Hi Ladies,
    My sisters have been calling me from Illinois and they got hit hard also. One of them lives way out in the country and she's got cabin fever really bad...been calling me every time she gets bored, which just happens to be about once every 3 hours...hahaha! I told her to go outside and make some snow cones...she hung up on me...no sense of humor that girl..haha! Hang in there..it won't last forever, and then spring will be right around the corner!

    I guess it depends on where you live in the country. My youngest son lives in Pittsburgh Pa. and it can snow 3 feet and the schools are still open. If you mention the word snow in NC. they close up the schools,shut down government offices,roll up the sidewalks and put the police on a skeleton crew and broadcast on the news to stay at home unless absolutely necessary. Sounds like I am exaggerating,but not. John(fnhl-1-4a-5/10)

    Hi Y'All,

    Maggie, it was a joy to hear you say that you love living up north. I admire all of you who live in the North. I grew up in the mid-west. I was around 9 when we moved to Iowa from Indiana. My first winter in Iowa it got down to -30 degrees below 0 for 30 nights in a row. When I was 19, I drove an old Mercury Monterey (that I had hand painted with a small roller and brush - and glad to have it!), loaded it with everything I owned (with plenty of room to spare) and drove down to Houston, TX. Arrived in Houston on June 4, 1970. ------BECAUSE I HATE COLD WEATHER!!!!!!!!

    So I am now sitting hear in front of a fire and it is so cold outside here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area on SuperBowl week that the ice on my driveway has not melted for 3 days. But literally 3 days ago, right before the storm hit, we heated up our outdoor inground spa and spent a couple of very pleasant hours outdoors in the warm bubbly water with some wine and watching the beautiful Texas sunset. The next morning I could not get out of my driveway. The waterfall on the spa has not stopped running for 3 days straight (automatic freeze protection). At least I have the hope of more spa weather in the next week or two. (No offense.)

    Tomorrow I go to my dermatologist for the first time since chemo. I guess I'll have to plan for most of the day. That is another whole saga.

    Believe me, I am wishing some warm sunshine to brighten the days for everyone, wherever you live!!!

    Hi Tom,

    Your post made me have a wonderful laugh. Thank you for your admiring me living up north. Most of all, I am full of envy just reading about your experience sitting in your hot spa tub drinking wine and keeping warm. Sounds delicious.

    Good luck with your dermatologist today. You say "another saga". What does that mean? Please post your experience with the doctor. I hope it's not too serious.
