Website showing picutres of women with mastectomies, no reconstruction
i expected to rather flat chested and i am not. i wanted more symmetry than i have. right now the right breast is a big as a small breast, the left is smaller. never never did i ever imagine that i would have so much tissue left over. i do not see my surgeon for 2.5 weeks to discuss it with her,b ut i am in tears this morning. the double mastectomy i could handle, this boob left over is horrible to me, i want it off. surgeon says all breast tissue is gone and i dotn underdstand why she had to leave so much more tissue on the right. i didnt want a unilateral mastectomy, then i would have chosen reconstrcuctin. i dont know why this upsets me so. i look down, think about and cry. i was loving my mastectomy until this.i am disgusted how my body looks and its a horrible feeling.

It can be corrected
When you say doctor, I don't know what kind of doctor you are referring to. Are you referring to a general surgeon or an oncologist
surgeon?
You need to see a plastic surgeon who should correct your problem. Plastic surgeons can work miracles. I hope you live in a more populated area so you can have choices. Plastic surgeons have websites and feature photographs of their patients (patients consent to have their photographs viewed). Plastic surgeons also have specialties. Some are more proficient with breast reconstruction and some are more proficient with breast enhancement. In your case, I think either one would do well for you.
That is all I did for two years. l looked at photographs on the internet.
I am going to go on the internet and find those photographs for you. Then I will post that information for you.
I'm back from the internet with information. Here is a valid website to American Society of Plastic Surgeons. There are many categories to give you good information. Explore everything on this site.

Susan Love who wrote the Breast Book also does a web site. In it is a link to brave survivors who showcase various reconstruction choices and tell their story. I found the site very useful when I was making decisions. It is not for children to see. Many photos are shown and they were just what I wanted to see at the time.0 -

You might be thinking of BreastFree.org? It's a site for women considering whether or not to have reconstruction or who've already decided against reconstruction, and includes lots of tasteful, helpful photographs.

I think that is the site Traci. It was very tasteful.
I also wanted to say that there is no way all of your breast tissue is gone. I know you wrote your surgeon said it was, but, it isn't. So, even with a mastectomy, you will still always have breast tissue.
I hope you will feel better and that your plastic surgeon can help you.

Maybe this is the one ?
I am really sorry to hear how unhappy you are. Please don't
despair, there must be something they can do for you. And if
this doctor won't help you another one might.
I really got lucky with my boobs. All my doctors commented
on how amazing they look, heck I don't care I will post it on
my expression page, so you can see what is possible.
And chin up, you will find someone to give you a great rack!!
Hugs,
Ayse0
