My dad started his chemo on wed. four days on and his only side effects have been tingling (pins and needles) in his hands. apart from that he has a great appetite and looks and feels very well. he always has an afternoon nap but doesnt feel especially tired. he has noticed that he wakes up more often though. when is it safe to say that he is tolerating his chemo well? is four days into chemo without any sign of effects safe enough to say he is tolerating it well?

thx
gabrielle

    Ummmm..tolerating treatment,
you never know, so far so good so just go with that. Take it one treatment at a time. As far as sleeping, if he is getting a steroid, usually Decadron, then that will keep him wide eyed for a while thus disrupting his sleep for a while. It will get back to normal and be ok.

    Take care - Tina

That's how I tolerated chemo, very well. I never was nauseous, had my appetite (well, I gained weight on chemo dang it)so I would say he is another person that tolerates it well.
How wonderful. In my case, it even got better every time, with the exception of the cold side affects from the oxiplatinin, that would last longer and longer, which of course I really disliked.
Hoping it stays well with him (I'm sure it will)all my best.

    Sounds good!
    Hi Gabrielle,

That really sounds good to me! My Mum's onc said, the worst time should be day 3 and day 4 after treatment!

I hope he will continue coping it well!

Best wishes to you and your father!
