Hi Elaine, I am stage 4 with mets to the lungs. I had a resection, complete hyster. and lymph removal. I was dx in 3/08. After surgery I went on oxy. I completed 6 months (12 treatments) and then took a break. My lungs were pretty much clear, but the tumors came back while I was off meds. I then went on irronotecan and avastin. I have KRAS mutation so drugs were a bit limited. I am currently doing clinical trials with UCSF. I feel good and the growth has been pretty slow, so the docs are hopeful that the meds have at least slowed down growth. I still work full time and function well. Best to you. Jean

    Yup, my husband
    Hi Elaine

My husband was diagnosed stage III. Did 3 rounds folfox but had a bad reaction to the oxi so he switched to folfuri. Finished his 12 rounds amd unfortunately his very first follow up scan showed three mets in his right lung. Just opted for surgery, which was very successful - clear margins and all that good stuff. Met with an herbalist and began taking a ton of supplements specifically to prevent a recurrence. Also focused on a healthier diet, juicing, etc. He's had three clear scans since his lung surgery last march. So far 10months NED and we remain hopeful :)

Let me know if you have any questions, we debated a lot of options after hs recurrence.

    YEP....
15+ mets scattered all over lungs..... chemo took out all but 1 and had Cyberknife that zapped that 1. Took a year to rid them all with 1 recurrance which was the reason for the Cyberknife. Just got the all clear Tuesday... YAY!

    yep
Yes, I had three solitary lung mets -- each about 2 years apart. Each time I had surgery, followed by chemo.

Two year later, I'm dealing with some tiny bone mets -- but my lungs are completely clear.

As I just wrote on another post, lungs SOUND so scary -- especially surgery. But it's OK -- just another part of the body. Those lung surgeons (if you end up goint that route) are amazing -- you want to find one who does LOTS of surgery.

    Good luck to you!
