Hey guys had anyone of you have heard of the Fuda cancer center in China. They saud that they work wonders there but I'm not sure about it. It has been featured in TV as the last hope for end stage cancers, but I'm not sure about it. Please post any comments or experiences if you had any. Thanks

    My sister
Had consulted with them, and went so far as to send all of her scans and lab work etc. to them. She had a conference call with them and they said they could treat her and seemed to offer "hope" of a cure. Now, you pay out of pocket there, and EVERY single doctor she consulted with told her not to do it. Their main reasons were: 1. They said their treatment was outdated compared to what we have here 2. They said they tend to "abandon the body" meaning if anything went wrong, they do not do the life saving steps they do here to save you. Two of her oncologists said the same thing. In the end, she did not go.

Thanks for your advice sfmarie. Some of my friends also told me that you cannot understand them because their Chinese. I even had a friend who went there and she's Chinese but couldn't understand them so she went back. It's just that when you're sick and desperate to clutch any straws just to get well. I contemplated on going there but none of my family wanted to support me going there. Maybe it's for the better. I'm just depressed with this colostomy and whenever I see it I real feel unattractive. The colostomy supplies here in the Philippines are not of good quality and I have to order them from my brother in the USA which is better. The ones here have no filter and every time you fart the bag is ballooning unlike the holster products that I get from the USA. Thanks2 so much!

My colostomy has been a life changing experience however: it is also a life saving experience and that is how I have to veiw it. It is not attractive but dyeing is not either. I have found help through the following websites. These people do not all understand cancer but they all live with ostemies and can enlighten you on issues you might want to talk about.

    uoaa.com

    c3life.com

    ostomyland.org

Good luck I'm praying fo you.

It can change Asia, but we here remain honest? (LOL)

    FUDA Cancer Center

I have no information regarding FUDA, aside from what I read.

When you have decided to look for better ways to do something,
staying with what you've decided wasn't filling the bill, isn't what
    your instincts are telling you.

    Or more simply:
If you truly believe that the cancer industry in the westernized world
will solve your ills, what made you even begin to consider looking elsewhere?

We all want to live, and none of us want to make a mistake that
will cost us our life. And yet...... some of us are so, so willing to put
    our lives into other's hands, simply because "everyone's doing it";
simply because the industry is telling them "it's the only way"..

Well, "everyone doing it" doesn't make it better, and anyone making
a living from other's ills isn't always all that honest.

In China and most of Asia in General, both western medicine and
Traditional Chinese Medicine are offered. You can use both together,
or each alone, but using the best of both makes the most sense.

In the western world, the industry argues against anything they
don't manufacture and make a large profit in. The same industries
attempt to figure out how and why the "old medicine" manages to
actually work, and if/when they can, they attempt to manufacture
the chemical properties, and sell it at their unreasonable price.

Does anyone have any idea of how much the multi-billion dollar
cancer industry would suffer, if there was suddenly an absolute
cure for cancer? It's like counting stars...

There are herbs that have been used to kill cancer cells specifically.
Those same herbs cost very, very little to purchase. There is no
serious profit in herbs, unless they can lobby to have the herbs
made illegal to buy or grow.

Marijuana can help offset the ravages of chemo and radiation,
but the profession would prefer you to use manufactured drugs
instead. It remains illegal unless prescribed, and that keeps the
price high, both for the prescription variety and the street sales.

The bottom line is simple: Don't be afraid to try anything that
won't hurt you. Study the alternatives; learn something about them,
and stop listening to those that are too afraid to do what you feel
    is best for -you-.

If you feel that toxic chemical therapy is the only thing for you,
or having your body bombarded with radiation that permeates
every living cell within range, is the only thing that will help you,
then by all means, do it.

But if something deep inside you is telling you that there must
be a better way than to get sick trying to get better, then you
should listen to that inner voice; that voice is there for a reason.

That voice came with your body, it's part of your soul, it is your
instinct for self-preservation, and to deny it is to avoid the
very element that is part of life itself; the will to live - to survive.

We all have to choose our own paths, and it should be each of
our own choices, not a choice we've been told is best.

No-one can predict what is best; there are never any guarantees.

    Better health to you!

i even put my arse in the microwave !!!
not literally, but i saw some similarities.

I EVEN HAD TO GET THE COURAGE TO TRY THINGS THAT REALLY HURT ME!!

finding my big t4 tumour that surgeon wanted to shrink with chemoradiation to maximise surgical margins.
the agony of that 6 weeks well, i won't forget it, any other pain since has been so minor its a joke. even chemo nurse was digging around in my arm today for vien for my fortnightly blood test, i just smiled and said don't stop digging, i must have some blood for you, i am alive.
she gave up and the next nurse struck red gold first hit. which was a refief. i digress...

i was dx on the edge of stage iv, but not just their. sort of saved by the slimest of margins. if i had let my tumour grow another 6 months, well i would have a much bigger mountain to climb. initially i was going to do just herbal/alternatives. but i could not take the risk rewards, i was offered 75% of lasting 5 years or money refunded by western doctors.

if i was colorectified. my term for chemoradiation/operation/bagged/6month folfox/unbagged hopefully. i simply could not trust the alternatives to work fast enough.

my open minded approach lead me to many alternatives including a few tcm providors initially, they both insisted i follow western medicine and get the tumour out.

that implied, chemo radiation as 3 surgeons all agreed to shrink the tumour first.

i felt good hoping into the microwave with 12 days of dx, to start killing the cancer that was killing me. i felt in control. then the pain set in. i know know why the doctors try to do the short form / versus long form chemo radiation now. the doctors don't explain downside risks properly!!!!!!!!!!

i am into full western and alternatives at the same time!!!

thanks for your post john23, i completely respect and believe in tcm and juicing and vitamins and diet, and exercise and meditation and etc etc etc and well as western meds.

cheers pete on the fence again... haha!!!

We've met several people who went to Fuda.

Fuda is used in Asia by relatively wealthy Asian clients that are shopping for particular technologies or techniques with a certain level of total service e.g if you don't have, or trust the only PET scanner in your area/country, or say, surgical specialist for advanced skills. There seems to be a certain amount of social me-too by folks unable, for a lack of interest, time or capability, that seem also go for the lure or promise of a foreign advantage in treating their cancer. They're typically spending about $20-25,000 in 3-4 weeks. Although we think they got better than average treatment for many parts of Asia, we did not hear of any miracles in our limited sample, either.

However, China also has had more ready-for-market organ transplant programs.

We stayed home and chose the among better local specialists by research and serial interview. Being on home turf, and being pre-armed with knowledge, we retained more physical control of the staff locally (outside the US), with more options for nearby help. Our strategy has been to maximize skill and experience, minimize hospital time, and utilize medical/nutritional support at home as much as possible.

As american style medical format and marketing penetrates parts of asia, I do have concerns about larger economic conflicts of interest in their advice and training.

NB: John23 (below), my concern is economic conflicts of interest made 1-2 orders of magnitude larger with western affiliated hospitals and pharmaceuticals even though owners of the People's Army facilities probably like a profit, too. We have an increasing amount of herbal content, including US manufactured mushroom extracts (JHS in OR) similar to PSK, most recently, as well as vitamins. In fact most of our conventional stuff is Japanese-Korean, and most of the nutrients are probably largely Chinese, even if by way of the USA.

"i am into full western and alternatives at the same time!!!"

Bingo! Those are the things I attempt to provide information about
with anyone looking to try an alternative. It doesn't have to be
"one or the other", it can be both together.

If the cancer is about to kill you, nothing short of a radical
treatment (surgery, radiation, etc) will be able to stop it
    fast enough.

Aternatives can work, but they usually work slowly.

Even the medicinal strength herbs I've used, don't work as
quick as a knife, or radiation. But it also does not have the
side effects that can kill you, as easily as they might save you.

Even Chemotherapy doesn't work fast enough to save one
from impending doom, and there are -no- guarantee that the chemo
they are administering will do a thing to the cancer one has.

How many cancer victims do we read about, that have gotten
terribly sick from chemo, only to find out that it didn't do what
their physicians told them it would? How many find themselves
in such a sorry state of health after having chemo, that they've
    gotten worse instead of better?

How sick and worn out does one have to become from chemotherapy,
to realize that they could have done something less harmful and
possibly been better off with it?

We all have to make choices, but we all should do so with
as much information as possible. We can't get that information
when the very physicians that should be helping us, mock anything
that doesn't fit what they've been made to believe is right.

There are some very, very good alternatives out here, and too many
are overlooking them, simply out of fear and misinformation.

It's not just "too bad", it's a tragedy.

Best wishes for better health to all!

john thanks maybe we can educate oncs
    i also believe in miracles!!!!!!!!!!!

i know where you are coming from and agree.

getting doctors to respect alternatives is very very complex if not impossible.

all we can do is post, hopefully enjoy health from our efforts in our treatment which includes here alternatives and western meds.

the more we post, that we share, if we are effective and convincing then some fellow board members maybe helped.

if we all explain our alternatives politely and firmly to our onc and doctors we at least will inform them, i honestly doubt they will change , there views i feel are set in stone and they want protect turf.

our dam health system's are cursed, all the legal issues, political issues.

the first book i read on dx was liver health. it backs up many of your views.
even my tcm onc said my chemo was next to useless.

Well said. One in every three Americans will get cancer in their lifetime, or know someone who does have cancer. We are not curing the cause of cancer, we are making our bodies worse through chemo, with all the side affects. We have to get in there and help our selves too. Don't be a sitting duck!

    Sharks eat sitting ducks
gee gracie, your onc's have some prettty nifty answers to protect their patch. stuff them!!

simply tell to grab and duck or any bird will do and go to the galapogos islands and go for a long swim.

then tell about what a mother nature can be.

did you know that lovelly juvenile albertrosses learning to fly often have unexpected landing in the surrounding seas.

did you know that the tiger sharks just come in the day these flights start and circle the beaches.

smash, crash, feathters and a white coat oops.

The reference to the sitting ducks just reminded me of this awesome documentary about the galapogos islands and the sitting juvenile albertrosses. and the cruel twists of fate that we are all expert in.

the motto is don't be a sitting duck especially if you visit the galapogos and have friends who are albertrosses.

thanks nana and john. on my soap box.
Its not just the doctors we need to educate or even ourselves. Its the entire dam western world. I believe we need to be healthy and peaceful examples for our neighbours, friends and family.

I am in my socialist mood. This assumes we all know about STRESS kills the immune system and PEACE allows us to heal our immume system. If not google it and come back.

we cancer patients are really bunnies.

in the western world us cancer bunnies pay the price for everyones greed, excess and stupidity. Including our own. We are just the unlucky ones statistically I believe. Ok a bit of an over simplification but I hope get my point across

We generally eat shite, are lazy, selfish, stressed and greedy. I was. We are making ourselves targets for illness cancer being the big one.

As a society we are overweight, unhappy, get divorced, raising screwed up kids in mixed up families. I sense the fabric of our society is so weak.

This airlines CEO Geoff just retired and said after building his massive airline over 15 years that its time to have time with the kids. They were over 16. Has he missed the plane? This happens absolutely everywhere, some of my dearest friends are foolish beyond belief working 16 hour days, missing out on family time.

WHY ? build a big ego, to buy bigger cars, TV, houses and toys to impress society and probably loose connction with wife and kids. Maybe even another divorce. all for things. they are living lives without loving connections.

Its the same effect as cancer that kills a mum or a dad, the families still split permanently. Ironically if we die well from cancer our families and friends won't be scared or scarred. I think preventing this should be foremost in our ongoing loving relations. I have many single wonderful friends that I would be pleased to help ellie and the kids in the worst case for me. Not that I believe this is an outcome. But cancer has taught me to have all the bases covered.

A friends wife died of breast cancer leaving dad and 4 kids 5-10 in age. Its been over 3 years and the Dad has a new girlfriend with kids as well. A reflection of how life can go on. At the same time I see the turmoil of my brother inlaw separation and the cruel games around access and maintenance money.

My cancer has made me more accepting, patient, forgiving, affectionate and loving. Now I really know that every moment is precious, let alone every minute, hour and day. I wished me friends going through relationship hardships could just be more loving and forgiving.

The pressure all this greed we put on us is stress which is killing us. We have to protect our minds from this brainwashing. So for me the root cause of why we make unhealthy choices
is advertising. The easiest way is to not exposure yourself or family to adds in print, tv and radio.

Of course the world and society has this wonderful potential thats simply being wasted, much like our human potential.

Our societies challenges globally maybe like our own personal treatment challenges. Delicately balanced and I hope our pendulums don't get pushed to far in one direction.

Not sure how how to end my ramblings except.

    good night,

    Love Pete
  • thanks nana and john. on my soap box.

Hello Gracie, I also opt for
Hello Gracie, I also opt for western type of treatment. I had my neo-adjuvant chemoradiation tx and finished it last sept 23. I had myAPR last nov 11, 2010 and currently have 8cycles of xelox and have already finished 2 cycles. Thank God and the side effects are very minimal. My rectal cancer has been downgraded from a stage 3 to stage 2. All 19 lymph nodes are negative, and all margins are negative except for Lymphovascular invasion so they decided to still give me chemo. There are No stoma nurses here in the Philippines and that's why I have a more difficult time adjusting to my colostomy bag. Also the medical insurance here in our country is not good so I have to shoulder all the expenses which is really expensive if you want the best care. It's good that my family is against me going to FUDA because at least my cancer has been removed and my doctor was confident that he was able to get all of it. The reason I wanted to go to FUDA is because I don't want to have a colostomy, it's not that common here in our country and you would have a stigma once you have it and that's the reason why I keep it a secret even from my children. It's good that my husband and my parents and siblings are very supportive. I just have a hard time getting the colostomy supplies here and have to order it from the USA. Thanks for your input. Godbless you all!

stuff them in your imagination, but be respectful pushy polite
your onc maybe in a more powerful spot dur to insurance, I about $60usd out of pocket each onc visit. I did go for a second onc opinion. If these guys were not passively supportive they would be flick and I have a third onc recommended by petria king the coolest anti cancer warrior around.

as john said recently we all try our alternatives and we cannot say what helps precisely.

my good folfox could be dna, bio chemistry.
I an emotionally attached to mine juicer and alternatives.

just work on your oncs, I still did my jiucing when onc said no, but I did cut it back
and was prepared to drop it if I had bad diarrhea comeback. I have had to be pushy and respectful with my onc. she is actually running a clinical trial on folfox as we speak.

which is really interesting. when i have details I will do another post.

your onc won't drop you. its ok to be an awkward customer with lots of questions.

    Fuda previous employer
    Hi everybody

I used to work for Fuda Cancer Hospital in China as a physician. I left because I found out that their
business is selling false hope to desperate cancer patients. Through out the whole year I worked there they never fixed any one, however I watched them harming a lot of people and some had died as result of the treatment, not the disease.

Their treatment is not new. The cryosurgery was first used in the US in 1998. Experiments showed that cryosurgery has no good effect on cancer except for prostate cancer and some type of skin cancer in early stage. The cryosurgery is what Fuda is using for treatment on every kind of cancer at any stage, claiming its new and last hope. Their other method of treatment is trans-arterial chemotherapy which is used here in the US on early stage stage cancer of certain type or before surgery to minimize the size of tumor. So it's localized treatment while cancer is a systemic disease.

Finally The radio active iodine seeds implantation. This method of treatment is also available here in the US and its one type of radiotherapy.

So Fuda got nothing new for you and like I said its more of a scam.

DO NOT GO TO FUDA IF YOU CAN HAVE CRYOSURGERY IN THE US
If you can find cryosurgery treatment in your country, do NOT go to Fuda, too risky letting irresponsible doctors with low morale, who know they cannot be sued if anything goes wrong to treat your loved one.

I took my mom who had stage 4 adenocarcinoma NSCLC lung cancer Fuda hospital for treatment, she survived for a year after treatment that costed my family about $180,000 in total, she had to go back every 3 weeks for the first treatments, after that monthly or bi~monthly due to her ailing condition that prevented her from travelling.

Here are my opinions regarding Fuda's cancer treatment, depending on patient's condition, it may be helpful but you SERIOUSLY have to be careful since they are in China where doctors are not liable, medical malpractice is difficult to prove especially if you are a foreigner, since they are not lalso SERIOUSLY ready to spend big amount of money.

    My mom was treated with
    1. Cryosurgery (freezing the cancer). I think this procedure helped for a sometime to stop the cancer from growing/spreading wildly. A WHILE is the keyword, other treatment has to follow otherwise malignant cells will soon spread again.
Depending on your mother's age and condition, cryosurgery might not be suitable for her since this is a risky open surgery.
Depending also on the tumor's location, this surgery may not be possible if tumor is located near major blood vessel/vein or may injure vital organ.

    2. Iodine seeds implantation.
My mom had 30 seeds implanted, not sure if it did any good at all.
Seeds implantation was done together with the cryosurgery, after that she had to wear anti radiation vest for 2 months to prevent spreading the iodine radiation to other people, especially children and senior.
In my opinion, iodine radiation is so strong and with the high dosage implanted in a patient's body, vest doesn't help at all so caretaker will be affected by radiation no matter what.

Cost of cryosurgery and 30 iodine seeds implantation, including all doctors fee, hospital room, etc was about $5000.

    3. Nano chemotherapy: chemo agent delivered through a major vein at the thigh.
According to their explanation, delivering chemo agent this way prevent chemo side effect and indeed less side effect experience by my mom compared to chemo injection.

    4. Tplus and CIC Immunotherapy.
In my opinion, this treatment is A SCAM.
Costed $25,000, after initial immunotherapy injection the doctor in charge of this department was nowhere to be found, didn’t reply to email nor phone call, didn’t explain treatment result whether it worked or not in creating antibody for my mom.
Now that immunotherapy doctor no longer works for Fuda but they still continue to offer the treatment.

    Words of caution:
    1. Be careful and check everything, every treatment, every medicine on your own, yes..you’ll need to learn a bit about medical treatments and medicine names since mistake and accidents happen in Fuda more often than it should have, unfortunately.
    2. Be careful of cross contamination that leads to infection, I have seen many patient getting infection out of nowhere, sanitation and hygiene standard there is low.
    3. Seeking medical treatment in another country for the terminally ill is physically and mentally difficult for the patient, also if something goes wrong and the person passes away in China, it is complicated and cost a lot of money to bring back the body your country. I have seen this happened there.

If I could redo things again and arrange a better treatment protocol for my mom, I may still take her to Fuda, only for cryosurgery with the head surgeon because this treatment is not available in my country. Not more.

All other treatment has more risk than benefit, they are cancer hospital, not equipped with specialists nor equipment in other health concerns, in case new situation develops such as pneumonia, which is very common for cancer patients.
After that, I would’ve chosen herbal alternative treatments rather than continuing chemo that finally made her sick.

Finally, whatever you decide to do, remember to ask your loved one whether it is what she/he wants, and remember to make him/her happy every day of, I know now after my mom passes that it’s more important than any treatment.

If you can find cryosurgery treatment in your country, do NOT go to Fuda, too risky letting irresponsible doctors with low morale, who know they cannot be sued if anything goes wrong to treat your loved one.
