Hello CSN family,
As of yesterday, 12/21, I had to put mom back in the hospitsl. Over the weekend she had become very short winded. Getting out of breath very easily. Tuesday morning she nearly fainted in the bathroom. I said...That's it! I am calling 911 and taking you to the hospital, something is definitely wrong! The first aid told me I was making the right decision. After spending 5 hours in the emercency room, she was finally moved to her room at 8 pm. The chest xray showed she has a lot of fluid on her left lung, and fluid around her heart. They are not sure if the fluid is blood or not. It may be coming from too much blood thinner, or it may be her heart bleeding. We will find out more today, and hopefully they will be draining this fluid today. I will keep you posted. What a way to spend the holidays huh? That is ok with us, as long as mom gets better, that is our main concern. Holiday or no holiday. Thank you all.

Dearest Tina, I will keep you and your mother in prayer during this difficult time. I know you did the right thing and your mother will get the care she needs in the hospital. Be sue and take care of yourself and keep us posted on her progress.

Hello my CSN family!
As of today mom is feeling better. Not 100% yet, but getting there! The past two days they have removed 1 and 1/3 liters of fluid from mom's left lung. She still has a small amount of fluid around the bottom of her heart, but it has not increased, stayed the same. The drs. are going to keep an eye on it. She has the two other issues of her diabetes being out of control, as well as the healing blisters on her legs and feet. The dr. said he is keeping her in the hospital until at least Monday. That works out great for me because now I can go home to my house and my family today to have a very Merry Christmas! After mom does leave the hospital I am having her transferred to a rehab facility. I can not take care of her at home they way they can. She is happy and all for this idea. The drs also recommend this. Thank you are for your continued thoughts and prayers! May you all have a blessed holiday season. I will keep you all up to date.

Hi tina,
so sorry to hear that your mom is back in the hospital. But glad to hear she's doing better today. She's probably better off in the hospital right now where they can keep an eye on her.
Hope you have a Merry christmas with your family. Keep in touch! "Carole"0 -

Hello CSN family,
Mom was discharged from the hospital on Monday, 12/27/10. I put her in our local rehab facility that afternoon. One hour of being there and she was ready to leave! "Tina, I do not like it here!" Well mom, you have to give it a chance and stay a few days. Once she got a room mate, who is wonderful, mom felt a little better. She has been at the rehab facility 4 days now. She has be able to get up and walk with her walker, go to physical therapy, her appetite is slowing coming back. She has a terrible bitter metal taste now, from one of the medications. It is so hard to eat when all foods taste that way! They recommended 5 days of therapy, so she will be coming home on Tuesday, 1/5/11. Today she is having trouble seeing out of her right eye, all things are blurry. This happened in the summer, the eye dr. told us it is caused from blood that is coming from a leaking blood vessel in her eye. He said if this happens again, she will have to have laser eye surgery. Mom is so upset because this is just one other thing that has gone wrong. I told her not to worry to much, we will take care of it as soon as she gets home. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. May we all have a Happy New Year!

Tina,
Thanks for the update on your Mom. I am happy to hear she is out of the hospital and in a step down facility. I am not sure you told us what the source of the fluid buildup in her lungs and around her heart came from but I am glad they appear to have figured that out and she is making progress.
I am sure she is not happy about the issues with her eye, between surgery for PAD, Heart surgery, complications, and now this I am sure she feels like it is “just one thing after another”.
I will be praying she is home soon and the eye is the last of the “medical surprises”.

I am happy to hear that Mom is doing well other than the eye issue. Change is difficult, but I am glad she gave it a chance. It is important for you to take time for yourself Tina! You seem to be a wonderful caring daughter, she is so fortunate to have you. I will pray that the eye issue is easily taken care of.
God Bless,

Hello All,
Thanks Linda and Paul and everyone who replied to my post. You make me shed tears of joy. I am so lucky to have all of you. Mom will be coming home from rehab tomorrow, Tuesday, 1/4/11. She is doing quite well. She is able to walk with and without her walker. She can get to the bathroom without any help now. She can not wait to be able to really "wash" her hair!! Her legs and feet are no longer swollen or have blisters. Just a lot of peeling skin. The physical therapy has done her good. When she gets home we will contact the eye dr. and address the right eye. Thanks to all of you again. May our good Lord bless us and continue to take care of us this new year!

Tina, So glad mom is going home. The days at rehab seemed to have helped her. It will be so nice for all of you to be together and rested up. Hospitals and running back and forth can be so tiring. Will continue praying! Let us know what the eye dr. says.
Thoughts prayers and hugs to you both, Sandra0 -

Hey Sandra
Funny. Those are the heads of my daughter, Amanda and her classmates Jane and Alyssa. This pic was taken the first day back to school. Amanda goes to a private Christian school, parents drop off and pick up. They are 3 of most favorite little people!

Children are such a joy--so much fun to be around. We have eight grandchildren, and two great grands. I thnk God for allowing me the time to be with them. I missed so much of their lives the two years I was sick, but I'm making up for it now!

Hello All,
Today I take mom to the eye dr. She has been having trouble seeing out of her right eye. She is diabetic, and this does happen to the blood vessels in the eye. They start to leak blood. She is seeing a very well known eye surgeon, who specializes in this type of eye problem. We are sure she will be needing laser eye surgery to solve this. I will keep you posted, please keep us in your prayers today!
Thank You!

Hello once again!
We had a beautiful afternoon in sunny, but quite chilly Va today! Mom's appt. went well. The whole office was very professional and pleasant. The specialist was wonderful, he is originally is from NYC, so we could relate to him, us being from NJ. He diagnosed mom with a hemmorage of the blood vessels in her right eye. The floaters and blurriness she is seeing is coming from the blood. This is seen often in diabetics. He has to wait until all of this blood clears before he can perform the laser eye surgery. This should take about a month. Mom has an appt. to go back on Feb 22. If between now and then her eye gets worse, or no better, she will go in and have eye surgery to remove the blood, and then the laser surgery. The dr,. is hoping that this will clear up on its own, rather than having mom have to go through another type of surgery! We are happy with him and the diagnosis. Now just prayers that this eye will clear up on its own, and not get worse. Thank you all for listening, reading, and replying to me. It really helps a whole lot to know I have you all cheering me on! I will keep you posted.

Tina,
Great to hear that your Mom's eye can be cleared up with minor laser surgery. She has certainly been through a lot over the last few months. It is great this can be taken care of quickly. I will be praying that her eye clears of blood on it's own and the laser surgery is quick and successful.
