    Maybe?
I think I "met" her on another board that I don't usually sign into, but do get email updates from daily! Is she mid-20's? If so she posted a very upbeat post... I'll let her respond fully if we're talking about the same person!

    Sounds Like Her
Short dark hair.... I believe that she was pregnant at the start of her treatment. I haven't seen her on here since mid November maybe...

    Hello!
Hi Skiffin! I am so touched you thought of me! I am doing well, actually just went for a scope yesterday and the doc said my throat looks just dandy! This week my throat has been really sore when I swallow, almost like swallowing a nail inside my food, but I thought maybe I was just catching a cold. Also, my tongue feels almost as if it's burned, like I had some REALLY hot coffee. So I asked the doc and he said that's not unusual that pain may come and go as a result of the radiation. I was like, "fabulous." lol, oh well! I am well! And yes I did meet Kimber on that other website! How are you dear? Thank you guys for askin about me :)
How are each of you doing and feeling?

    Nice to see you Kristyn!
    Nice to see you Kristyn!

You 'sound' good. :) That burned tongue feeling is constant for me, I still have that pain after 2o months but it's not as bad as when I just finished rads. I can even drink warm tea and coffee now. Not hot though. Too hot and too cold hurt.

    Glad you checked in!

    Be well. 

Oh what a bummer about your
Oh what a bummer about your tongue :( it's not the greatest of feelings. Each time I wanna gripe about how I'm feeling I just try to compare it to a few months ago and that makes me want to shut up and not complain lol. It's so weird being 2 1/2 months post tx... I feel so much better, just getting used to the 'new normal' as y'all say! My baby is already 6 months old, I'm like what happened?? haha.. My profile pic was taken by my 3 1/2 yr old... I was like wow, that's actually a pretty good pic! LOL I'm rambling... anyway You be well also!

    Great to hear from you.
Fantastic to know you are doing so much better after only 2 1/2 months out. I'm 17 months out from treatment and still get weird "pangs" in my mouth and neck area, but no big deal. Yea, just remember that you were really down in the dumps.....as most of us were....and now we're moving on with our lives. It's great to see a wonderful, caring young mom make it through this hell tunnel and come out of the other side feeling as you do. Good luck to you, KR.

    Hi You...
Glad that you are doing well...hoping that you and the family are getting somewhat back to normality..

Yes the pains tend to come and go, and more than likely will for several months...you were in a battle for survival, and made it.

    Best,

I am happy to see that you and your kids are doing well. my youngest was four almost five months old when I was diagnosed. My oldest turned 5 today, and my middle kid turned 3 right after thanksgiving. today my baby tried to stand up (he is almost 11 months now) and I just broke down. it was hard to realize that there were so many moments of his life I missed...then after I give myself a little, pity party, I give myself a big ol' kick in the backside and remind myself, that now I get to see so many more big moments, like the one I saw today. plus I was the first to see him crawl, see his new teeth, etc. I missed nothing compared to what I get to see!
I am having pain that comes and goes too. today i found it hard to eat anything...I ate the wrong stuff yesterday and I scratched my throat. I have to order coffee from starbucks at kid temp (130 degrees, with only one shot...solo grande latte at kids temp). they always look at me funny, but I don't mind. if they question me too much, I simply say...I had cancer and the coffee at normal temperature is just too hot for me. they shut up or ask questions. I have decided to tell anyone who is willing to listen that you don't have to be a heavy smoker or drinker to get cancer. I also show anyone who is willing the hole in the roof of my mouth from where the cancer was removed and the mouthpiece when they are amazed as to how "normal" I sound. when it is out, I do not sound any where near "normal".
wishing you and your family well.

I was getting worried about you too. Glad you are doing so great. The tongue issue was my dad's biggest complaint. He finished in June and has no pain issues now, so hang in there it will get better.

I always get the Caramel Mocha Iced Coffee from McD's!! Yum!!! And I completely know what you were saying about throwing yourself a pity party.. sometimes when I'm alone like driving etc. I think about how hard life was not that long ago and I get tears and wanna BAWL crying.. then I always stop like what in the world am I upset about??? I MADE IT! I'm not 100% old Kristyn, but I'm damn near close, and I'm ecstatic! There were days in recovery that I NEVER thought I'd see these happy days!! My babies and husband are such a joy, I'm just so glad we have happy days together!
Do y'all find that now you're (obviously) more sensitive to commercials, tv shows, etc regaurding cancer? I swear everytime I see a race for the cure commercial I tear up! LOL I feel like I'm living life through different eyes, which I probably am. I think it's for the best. I feel like I'm a better person. I love all you guys and thank all of you for checking in on me! :)

Well Look at You, Nice Photo....
Definitely a different looking you...but then again this IS the new you.

I think like you said, everyone tends to look at things differently and are for sure more sensitive to things.

You are looking (and sounding) good...I remember those first few postings from you....questions, doubts, concerns. I believe that you have come full circle...now one of the educated and experienced.

    Best, thoughts and prayers,

Tear jerker commercials & movies and chick flicks....
Hate them. I had my younger brother who was diagnosed with aplastic anemia when we were kids, we were both sickly kids but he was worse. He started needing transfusions at like 8 or 9. (I was 12. We didn't find out until he was 19 and I 23 that we had Fanconi Anemia). We grew up dealing with my brother having to shlep back and forth to Sloan Kettering all the time for doctors appointments and blood transfusions. We would spend the day with a lot of seriously ill children from blood disorders, to cancer and all kinds of scary stuff. The last thing I wanted to watch for fun was a movie that made me cry. I had enough real life drama thanks. :)

Yep, those commercials have always made me ball or at the very least get a lump in my throat. I have lost too many family and friends to cancer and plus going thru my own crud, I think it's normal for it to hit home.

I remember my one friend came up to take me a movie to get my mind off being sick and going thru rads. The movie turned out to be about death and illness. I wanted to kill him. I balled my eyes out. Poor guy was just trying to do something nice for me. Lol. :)

If the movie is sad or depressing I can't watch it! Ever since I got sick I sure change those channels pretty quickly lol! I don't wish to cry anymore!
