Still sweating out the biopsy results...
The doctor who performed the general liver biopsy yesterday afternoon was very friendly, and even insisted on showing Moopy the three "slivers of liver" he got. Not that Moopy could really refuse, being half sedated and flat on her back. He also said that they "looked good," smiled and shook Moopy's hand before she was taken away.
Of course Moopy and I have spent the last 24 hours trying to interpret what on earth THAT meant, but we don't think the guy would have been waving Moopy's liver samples in her face if he expected some kind of problem. Also, he was careful to point out that this was a GENERAL liver biopsy, which required samples from different parts of the liver, as opposed to a SPECIFIC liver biopsy, which targets a problem area like a lesion or mass.
Supposedly the results will be back in 24-48 hours. Moopy is weak and tired of being in the hospital, but at the same time she is still her same irrepressible self. Who else would have thought to ask the doctor what a "SPECIFIC liver biopsy" was before he started poking holes in her?
Thank you all SO MUCH for all of the posts and notes and PMs and prayers and good thoughts. We count on them so much more than any of you could ever believe.
Love,
Joe and Moopy0 -

Dear Joe and Moopy,
Thank you so much for keeping us updated on Moopy's condition. Nobody deserves to go through ANY of this. I cannot imagine having to go through bc alone. Joe and Moopy, you are lucky to have each other and in turn, we are lucky to have you on this Board. You are both in my thoughts and prayers.0 -

Even though you don't have results of the biopsies yet ...I am glad you filled us in on the latest. Glad to hear Moopy is "still her same irrepressible self." That "self" is has not just giving Moopy strength ... but many of us "out here" have been able to do things we thought we'd never do ... because of Moopy's strength and determination... and knowing she's got the support of such a loving, caring husband is great comfort.
Please let us know ... we all care so much ... for that Joe/Moopy team.
love,
teena
P.S. Joe ... give Moopy a huge BIG "gentle" hug from her CSN sisters. We can't wait until she's back on the boards with us.0 -

Vicki thank you for posting this as I have been hoping for an update. Joe thanks for the update! :-) Moopy big giant and gentle cyber hugs coming your way!
♥ RE ♥;
Lisa and Joe, I think the surgeon is feeling hopeful because everything looked good. He was targeting different areas because he did not have any specific areas to biopsy. Meaning he did not see anything that worried him. Of course we all know the proof is in the biopsy but it is a good reason to be hopeful. Having been on both sides of this journey, I could write a book. I constantly worry about what I say to my patients and try to make everything clear.
like the CT tech who said "do you have an appointment with your doctor?" right after my test?????????????????? What did she mean by that????????????????????
Hugs Hugs been thinking of you . Moopy I am waiting for my mango smoothy from panera (been home with a virus)0 -

Thanks for the update. I was thinking about you guys when I was driving home from work today and wondering what you had found out.
I'll keep checking for more updates and I pray that things turn out fine.

me of when I had my ACL knee surgery. My surgeon said it was one of the worst knees he had seen, gee thanks. There were a lot of photos from the surgery which he gleefully pulled out to show me, even though I really did not want to see them!Aortus said:Still sweating out the biopsy results...

Thanks for the update. I have been thinking about you both, too. I like the comment "looked good" but I have to say I'd also wonder what the heck that meant. But, to me, it sounds positive so I'm sticking with that. I'll be sending strength to get through the waiting game and hopeful for only positive feedback. Sending gentle (((hugs))) your way.0 -

thanks for the update on Moopy. I can see her asking about "specific" liver biopsy. Me, I would have thought that specific meant mine and the other was someone else. LOL It does sound promising that he was waving it around and being reassuring. My doctor when I have my gall bladder surgery insisted on giving me the stones. I tossed them out but when I went to my follow up appointment I wanted to get a necklace that looked like them and tell him that I made it from the gall stones. Couldn't find anything that looked even nearly as gross as they were so I didn't. Maybe Moopy can ask him if she can have the samples back after the biopsy because she has a yearning for liver and onions. Okay, maybe that's too out there. Apologies. I will continue my prayers that the biopsy is as good as her doctor makes it sound and that she will be home and bouncing around real soon. Hugs to you both,
