Thank you for your support and best wishes. Our whole family is in unchanted territory as none of us have ever experienced any form of cancer so everyones support and information will be greatly apprectiated.

Well it was good news yesterday as results from the fluid have come back clear and has been put down to an infection but she is feeling much better today and yesterday and has been taken of oxygen and fluid tube. Also scans from cardiovascular have come back all clear too.

The family have been very upset for the past week as my sister has had a pretty good time of it so far (if ya can ever call it that) and that was the first set-back and hopefully the last!! Hopefully it will be onward and upward from here!!

After over a week of being in excellent form and the infection clearing and fluid leaving the doctors decided to put her on the new chemo which was much more intensive. Unfortunetley last night Amy took a a reaction to this Chemo and was rushed to intensive care where the doctors have said that she is very ill. So ill in fact that my parents were told to tell My older sister and I ( who are away in college and work respectively) about how sick she is. She has been sleep ever so much since the chemo has started. I pray to god that everything is ok.

So sorry to hear that, when I was considered for stem cell, they explained to me how much chemo they were going to administer. They really have to knock your body done hard, hopefully they can adjust the dose. I will be praying for her.......... Vinny

So sorry to hear this latest news Stumpy
I am a 23 year NHL survivor, only had the cancer twice right at the beginning of my journey with cancer and have been considered cured a long time ago. Tell your sister I am thinking of her and sending her lots of prayers, with alot of prayers I hope she will get through this rough part she is going through.

I myself had pneumonia twice during my transplant but you have to remember mine was 21 years ago so hopefully now they have better treatments. When she recovers from this setback do keep an eye on her heart too, I still have a little fluid buildup around my heart that just seems to sit there and has done for years not causing any hastles.

Like the other survivors have told you remember we are here for you and your family, we all understand and are here to help.

I had a thoracentesis
I had a thoracentesis when I was first diagnosed. They drained 2 and a half litres of fluid. I also had a tumor wrapped around my heart that went from my left chest cavity to my right that was 10 inches. I had a tumor in my neck and activity in my lymphnodes. When I was first brought in to the hospital my situation was pretty grim. My heartrate soared to around 170 because of the strain and stayed that way for weeks. I was also on oxygen for the longest time. The regimen of chemo they started me on was called ICE and it was so hard on my body all I did was sleep for about a week, I lost all bodily function. It was pretty severe, but as you see I'm here. I am a military wife and had a newborn at the time. So my family was very far away and couldnt come to see me. I didnt even have my husband there because the baby was not allowed in the heart center where I was at the time. The most important thing you can do is be there for her, you and your family. I'm so sorry you are going through this, I'm very sympathetic and empathetic to your families situation. I also have never dealt with cancer before this. I was diagnosed February 6th last year and I'm still here after a long year. And you will have a long year too probably, take care and God Bless!

Hi Guys!!

Its been awhile since i have published on this site. After Amys set back she spent a full week in intensive care and was very closely monitored. We had 2 and a half worrying days wondering would she pull through but thankfully the chemo wore of and she came around. She had a negative reacton to something which was in it. She was then moved out of ICU to another ward and was kept there for a few more days. We had to wait for a new type of drug to come which didnt contain whatever she was reacting to in the previous one. After another week, it arrived and she was well enough to undergo this treatment.

Well.....just over 3 and a half months on, I am delighted to tell you all that Amy recieved news yesterday, after her last pet scan, that she was in COMPLETE REMISSION!! To say she....and everyone around is over the moon is an understatement.
