When we lose one blessing, another is often, most unexpectedly, given in it's place.

We laugh about it now but just the thoughts of remembering Mom and the things she would say and tell us are a wonderful experience. She has been gone for 26 years now but her memories still lives on.Noellesmom said:long lost brother (or cousin or something)

She's 84 and recovering from pneumonia. Just today she told the therapist she would have a heart attack if she raised her arms over her head. She admits she doesn't know who told her that but didn't think it was worth taking the chance. Besides, she just didn't feel like it right then.
Moms - gotta love 'em.0 -

When I did something wrong Mom would send me to get two switches, first a long and second a short one.
Why she would say, because I am going to wear the first one out on your butt and the second one on your back if you don’t start to listen when I speak.
Sorry Mom but what did you say... she painted the picture very clear0 -

Gotta go with the one I always nod in agreement when I hear or read it...
"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things that I can, and the WISDOM to know the difference"
(Shortenend version from Reinhold Niebuhr)
Quoted by sea60

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things that I can, and the WISDOM to know the difference

[always used at AA and related meetings, and from Wikipedia, originally attributed to the theologian Reinhold Niebuhr]
Damn! I'm not Christian nor do I belong to AA but this was the one that I was going to add.
How dare you get in first!

I really like this and itwinsomebulldog said:Survivor
Not sure this is truly a quote, but I found it on my first trip to my Oncologist. They have it printed on little strips of paper lying around all over the place for use as book markers or something similar. I picked it up and didn't even read it until later.
"I have lived, laughed, loved and lost.
I have cried, mourned and grieved,
hoped, prayed, and healed.
I have found strength and true beauty.
I am a survivor."
I like the message. I'm thinking it would make a nice t-shirt.
I really like this and it would make a great shirt0 -
Mmm..PhillieG said:Every religion is true
Every religion is true one way or another. It is true when understood metaphorically. But when it gets stuck in its own metaphors, interpreting them as facts, then you are in trouble.
~ Joseph Campbell
Want to keep this. Campbell certainly is profound.
It rings a chord for me somehow, I think also in relation to different forms of spirituality (not just religions - which I think of as different).
Sometimes I am arrogant when I express my beliefs, but I don't usually realize that till I read something like this.
