    Well, first, let me say ouch and I hope you're doing better, Cher123. That sounds awful. I'm sorry that happened to you.

    I saw the surgeon again this morning. Last week she renamed the seroma, said it was now a hematoma and gave me antibiotics. The lump is almost all gone and I'm wearing sleeveless blouses and feel much better.

    The Oncotype DX test came back -- I'm a 10. Woo hoo. No chemo. So I've had my first placement appointment and been tatooed for rads. Probably start next week. Have to ask if I should begin the Arimidex or wait till done.

    I was praying for a single
    I was praying for a single digit score on my Oncotype DX, and it came back a 9! I was afraid of it being a close call and then questioning if I should do the chemo or not. I'm on Tamoxifen, since I'm not post menapausal. No problem taking it, not even the hot flashes. I go friday for an MRI since I am going on a year (May 7), since my diagnoses, and it has been 6 months since the traumatic mammogram! Getting a little anxious, who am I kidding, A LOT ANXIOUS!!!!

    Glad your lump is almost gone, and good luck with rads and Arimidex.

    Thank you for this information. It is conforting to know that this is problem that can be rectified. I had a lumpectomy last Friday which went well. The first few days I felt no pain but now I feel constant pain under my arm and in the breast area. I was told by my surgeon that the fluid build up is normal and the body will absorb the fluid. A few days ago I purchased some sport bras but they irritate the underarm area also.

    Thanks Survivorbc09. After getting my pathology report yesterday (All six nodes negative, mass size = 3mm with clean margins, Stage I) it made it easier to tolerate the inconvenience of the need for aspirations of the seroma twice a week. Yesterday the surgeon drained 100 ccs down from 110 last week. Guess the decrease will be very gradual.I have an appt with the medical oncologist on 4/22. Movin right along and looking forward to the end of radiation treatment when we hope to be able to get away on vacation to Florida and a visit with family before Fall.

    hi Kay,

    I'm new on this forum. I'm wondering what ever happened with your seroma? Did it go away? How long did it take? I am freaking about mine. I had a lumpectomy and some lymph nodes removed Dec 17th and it seemed like a piece of cake. A week later I had this huge swollen tennis ball under my armpit. My doctor drained it. It started coming back that same night!! Now it is the same as before just 3 days after I had it drained. I have an appt on Mon. to get it drained again! This is really a drag. I am a fitness instructor and I've been working at and it has been really irrating with the rubbing of my arm on that lump. God I hope this isn't permanent.

    The seroma eventually decreased and stopped filling up. It took about two mos. I thought It would never clear up.
    I did however, develop a mild case of Lymphedema in that breast and upper arm. I went for OT/PT for several mos during the late summer. I do manual drainage massage almost daily and it is well controlled with a compression sleeve/glove.
    Can't say for sure that the lymphedema is directly a result of the seroma and it's treatment but I do think they are somehow connected.
    Yes, it is a drag to have that lump rubbing. It will resolve...
