Home
We are staying home and having a special dinner. We will probably watch the ball come down, but will be in bed watching TV. The grandkids might come over but not sure. Came down with a cold yesterday and although feeling ok, don't want them to catch it. Hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year. God Bless!

blessings in 2011
Happy New Year to you Pepe, and everyone else too!!
My husband, kids, and husband's sister are getting up at 3 a.m. to drive up to Pasadena, CA to see the Rose Parade. Do they ever show the Rose Parade on New Year's in Spain, Pepe? I went last year with the family, but am skipping it this time. It's kind of a wild and crazy, but fun scene. Last year we left the house at 4 a.m, got there close to 6:30 and just walked in. No sleeping on the sidewalks for us, like so many other people did!
But since everyone else here is getting up so early to go to the parade, I think they are going to try to go to bed early- so no big midnight celebration in our house this year. My kids have turned into night owls over the Christmas break from school, so I don't know how early they'll be able to go to sleep- we've been watching movies until 2 a.m. the past couple nights, so they may onlyget an hour or two in of sleep.
Blessings ahead in 2011, Everyone!!

Tonight
We are staying home, having a nice dinner + watching a movie. Our oldest daughter is having a bunch of friends over to celebrate. She is busy tidying our family room right now.
Pepe, last night I was up late after company left + I almost started this thread (it was after midnight so it was Friday). I decided it would not have the same meaning if it din't come from you! I hope you are ready to welcome 2011 in style! I can't wait to hear about the 12 grapes; is it 1 for each month?0 -
HAPPY NEW YEAR PEPE!! :-)
HAPPY NEW YEAR PEPE!! :-) We just got home after spending the day with Rick's kids and parents. His Mom made a nice turkey dinner and his son opened his Christmas presents today since he was sick on Christmas and couldn't join us. A very nice day overall. Now we're just going to watch the New Year's happenings in Boston while cuddled up on the couch. It's warm here this year (47 deg.) so the poor ice sculptures in Boston Common are melting - drip, drip, drip. Oh well, they still look pretty. :-) Hope that you're having a good night! Happy New Year everyone! Cynthia0 -

I wish you both the best for the new year!
Tradition in Spain is to follow the new year entrance in TV with the Clock of " Puerta del Sol" in Madrid , Puerta del sol is a big square with a very old clock so when it sounds the 12 peals of the bell you have to eat a grape in every peal, it means good luck! Thousands of people gather there in fun dressing ( something similar to Time square ). Fun and old tradition!Every body does it!.

Hau'oli Makahiki Hou!!
Hau'oli Makahiki Hou from Hawaii! Today was our daughter's 14th birthday and we celebrated in the afternoon. It was such a great celebration. She has autism and can be quite overwhelmed. Today she had a blast with a few friends and family. I am so happy she had a great day!!
Tonight we will have her inside with the air conditioner on (it's 80 deg F) so she can't hear the fireworks. She gets a bit scared. We will eat some Ahi (fresh Tuna) and have a good dinner. Then, **** and I will take turns at a neighbors' party. It's too hard finding a sitter for daughter on New Years. Both of us will be home at midnight. Also, we'll make sure the 16 year old is not driving and does not get in any car tonight. There is a bonfire on the beach for the teens so they will be walking.
Love, peace and improving health to all of you. You are a blessing in my life.
Aloha,
