Happy holidays to all,
I used to post on the colon cancer survivor board, now I lurk from time to time.
I was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer in 3/2003. Had chemo/radiation, surgery with ileostomy, another surgery to reverse ileostomy, more chemo, DIARRHEA for 18 mos. and when I couldn't take the DIARRHEA anymore I had a colostomy done and haven't looked back. It was a tough decision, but has improved my quality of life so much.
My kids were 14, 18, and 21. My daughter was a senior in college. She married her high school sweetheart 4 years ago. They had a baby girl on 12/8, a beautiful baby girl named Isabella Maureen. We couldn't be happier.
My boys were both in high school when I was diagnosed. The youngest was only a freshman. They have now both graduated from college. My oldest son gave his college sweetheart a beautiful diamond last week. We will now start to plan another wedding.
Hy husband has been my rock through all of this and I couldn't have done it without him.
When I was diagnosed and when I was so sick from treatments, surg. etc. this site was amazing. Everyone one here helped me so much to get through it all. I never thought I would get better. Thank you all for all your help.
I think of you often and pray for those still struggling with this horrible disease.
I just wanted to share my Grandma news.

Awesome news Mo
And thanks for sharing on both boards! I'll always remember talking to you on the phone in Austin @ CP 3 in 2006 and you laughing at my southern accent. After years of "talking" on the board it was fun to finally talk to you and hear your voice.
I also appreciate that you "lurk" and always chime in to show others that not everyone succumbs to this disease. I wish more of our CRC stage III and IV longtime survivors would do the same.
Have a wonderful Holiday season Grandma!!!

Being a grandma is great
Congratulations, Maureen. I remember you from colon board. My granddaughter is getting close to 7 and she is the love of my life!
