Head Pain MRI completed today 12-20-10
I thought I was going to die a few days ago when some very thick mucus started forming in my mouth, so thick I could not swallow or wash it down, we could not figure out what was going on. The Eustachian tube that has been blocked for a very long time in my left ear had opened and draining normal in my throat, my body was getting rid of the bad stuff in my head and doing what a normal body does, I like that word Normal.
The infection is still there but getting better everyday, I go back to see my new ENT on the 29th just hope this is all cleared up by then.
Lessons learned for anyone who has tubes in there ears, Don’t go swimming with out the proper ear plugs, it can be deadly.

Drain the pain
Hi Hondo, sorry to hear you had a fright, but glad to hear it was from needed drainage. Great news that the pain is indeed lessening as the infection clears. I haven't been able to go swimming without ear plugs since I was a kid. The water will get trapped in one ear or another and sometimes cause an infection (swimmer's ear).

Sometimes we don’t think about those little things before we jump in to the fire.

You are so right, I still have pain but it is nothing like before when the swelling was in my head, just glad one of the 4 ENT's seen it.
Keep me in your prayers as I go to have the MRI tomorrow to see about the problems with the eye sight now, if it is not one thing its another, just glad to be alive.0 -
Head Pain
Hi, Hondo. This is great news. I am very happy for you. Pain sucks. I hope we all remember these days when we are very old. I heartily agree with the "normal" concept. I think all of us just want to be normal again. I know I am self conscious in public because the right side of my face is still paralyzed and I have trouble moving my lips properly. My smile is only on he left side of my face and I have always been a person who smiles a lot. Yeah, I know that this is part of the "new normal" and I know that many people have suffered far more than I have, but it is really tough when it is "me" going through this. It is always great to hear good news from others. Good luck to you and I hope you continue to improve until you are "normal". Now that I think about it, I guess I never really was "normal"......at least that's what my wife says.

Hi Everyone
OK did the MRI today about 10:30am we left the place to go and get some lunch and my cell phone started to ring. It was the MRI place they needed me to come back for another scan, scared the crap out of us because you just somehow know it is because they found something.
We did not yet order out food and lost all appetite after the call anyway; so on our way back to the MRI shop for some more pictures. When I got to the back I ask the attendant OK what’s-up with the extra scan, he said Oh nothing the doc needed a clearer scan of the area above the face. I was thinking that don’t sound right to me.
Anyway the Doc just called at 3:30pm and said that the MRI did not show anything out of the ordinary and that it did look better then the MRI I did just 6 months ago. There is no mass or anything there as to why I would be having problems with my eyes. He will contact my new ENT about the finding as I have to see him on the 29th anyway.
I did review some of the old notes about radiation and chemo to the head & neck and there is a statement about possible loss of hearing and eye sight. For now the doc thinks we need to just monitor it and if it starts to get worse he will try some steroid.
Thanks again everyone and Mary Christmas and happy New Years form

Well, I am glad that there was no mass or anything like that on the MRI. You had me nervous there a minute.
Not sure exactly what kind of dark spots you are seeing in your field of vision, but do you get any flashing or undulating wavy lines? I suffered with pretty bad ocular migraines for years and the first time it happened to me it scared the crap out of me. I thought I was going blind.0 -

You should have seen the look on the Wife face when the MRI place call me to go back, like I said we were just getting ready to sit down and place our order, but that killed everything.
What I am getting is a blurred spot on the far side of the left eye and then at other times the hold eye just goes dark to where I can only see 10% out of the eye. It only last for about a minute but it comes and goes with no warning.
Anyway just glad they did not see anything to worry about. For now my Pain in the head is back to normal and it is time for Hondo to get back at being me.
PS: Talked to Chief daddy Mike, he is having some big problems again, please keep him in prayer.

You are so right this is good news for the holidays. I will be going to see my new ENT again on the 29th. His plan is to do a full cleaning of my sinus area to remove all the old dead tumor and scar tissue, this is something he said should have been done a long times ago. Remember how I get shadows and hot spots on my PET scans in my sinus, this is one reason he said that happens, the PET is still seeing the old dead tumor. Anyway I will let you know how it goes, nothing will happen till next year as I want to enjoy the holidays with my Wife & Children.
Praise to my Lord and savior for his goodness through another year year and may he bless each and everyone of our family here on CSN.

Good news Hondo, no Masses or Growths. You found the source of the ear pain, I know you will find the source with the eye issues you are having.
Stay strong and have a very merry Christmas.

The Wife told me now that the Pain in my head is almost gone, I need to stop being a pain in her (I leave it at that). I go to see my new ENT again on the 29th to set plans to clean the sinus out and see if he can restore the ear drum.
God be with you and Merry Merry Christmas to you and your family0
