I posted about my mother a couple of weeks ago. Since then, there has been a few setbacks. Her chemo is no longer working and her stomach is very swollen. At this point they are just trying to control her pain and they are considering draining her stomach even though they say there is a risk for infection. Thursday she was so sick she didnt notice how sick my father had become. he was rushed to the ER with a blood sugar over 1000 and is in ICU. Although my main concern is my parents health, I am also concerned about their financial status. They had already been struggling quite a bit and now with dad in the hospital, I am worried they will lose their home. Although this wouldn't be the worst thing to happen, I don't won't them to have that added stress. Does anyone know of any organizations that provide financial help for a situation such as my parents? Please let me know? Thank you.

Hi and welcome to the board. I am so sorry to hear of all the trouble your parents are having. How tough that must be for everyone. I always recommend Patient Advocate Foundation. They have a special division dedicated to colorectal cancer and while I'm not sure that they can help specifically with this situation, they will assign a case manager for you and will help you locate services and organizations that might be able to help. You can find them at

They will be closed from Christams eve through the new year so contact them right away. I hope they can help. My prayers are with you and your family.0 -
