I was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer in 2008. I completed chemo in 2009. I'm still going through emotional trauma. I would really like to connect with someone.
I am male, age 27. I was derailed from life and am still going through some emotional trauma.
Thanks,
Ryan

Welcome Ryan
Sorry you are here, but this message board is a great way to connect and find encouragement. I am 31--was diagnosed at 30 with stage 3c ovarian cancer. I've been fighting this demon for nearly one year. I have not lost hope yet. I understand about life being derailed; I was in the prime of my life then BAM I've got cancer and nothing is or ever will be the same again. I cope with medication--anti-depressants and anti-anxiety. I also have a great support system of friends and family. I hope you find the encouragement/support you need.
Blessings to you!

Hi Natalie-
Thanks! I have a pretty good support system as well. I'm on medication now (also seeing a counselor) and I really don't know what to do with my life. (which is kind of ironic)

I completely understand. I was diagnosed at the age of 19 (I'm 27 now) and have been in remission for a number of years. I'm still dealing with a lot of the feelings that chemo couldn't cure. Everything from friends that weren't there for me, a boyfriend who left me, fear of my cancer coming back, to being a mother and fearing that he could get it some day too.
Have you found a support group in your area? Survivorship isn't easy...0 -

I was dx at 28. I'm 29 now, and just passed my 1yr remission anniversary.
Survivorship brings home additional challenges. I'm in the middle of a master's degree program. I find myself thinking of quitting because my priorities have changed. But, I don't have that much longer to go and I can still pursue something different after the degree if I want. I am still interested in the subject material, but I'm not entirely sure if I'd like to pursue the same career or not.
I'd really love to find a support group locally, but I doubt that since I live in a pretty small town. Most survivors are in the elderly category, and that's certainly not me.0 -
