Well I'm glad that your pain has decreased but I don't like to hear about the problem with your eyesight. Hoping that the pain continues to lessen and the eyesight returns to normal.
I am like Old Man River I will just keep rolling along. I am just at that 5 years mark and being I had Radiation twice to the head I can only expect things like this to happen. My spirits are good about it so no matter what the outcome I will be just fine with it.

So glad the pain is down!Hondo said:Hi Everyone 12-16-2010
Here is the up-date, my Pain for the last 6 months has been between 7 & 8 I am one week into using antibiotic to treat this Mastoid infection and the pain is now down between 2 & 3 which is normal pain for me. I am just glad I finally found a doctor to hear what I was telling him.
Another problem that is just now coming about and I don’t know if it has anything to do with the infection is my eye sight. For the last few weeks I have been getting darkness in my eyes it is more on the left side where the Mastoid was infected but the eye doctor is concerned because I have it in both eyes. So here we go again I just hope the darkness goes away once the Mastoid infection clears up.
But the good part is that the Pain is down.
Hondo,
So happy to hear that the pain is better! I hope your eyesight problem is just temporary and due to the infection and treatment. You have such a great attitude about everything. I hope I can learn from you.
Good luck with the eyesight and please keep us posted.
Love,

Hi Hondo
I am going through
Hi Hondo
I am going through the same sort of thing at the moment, and may have to do the same thing, see a doctor who does not know my history, once they know, they assume too much, rather than go through a process of elimination.
I am having some shocking pains shooting into my ears and a lymp glan under my chin on the right side that is swollen most of the time, and also get huge swelling around my adams apple when i wake up in the morning, which fades away after an hr or so,my operation was only 5 mths ago.
I had a cat scan with a biopsy on the swollen glan done recently, the result was, a possible stone blocking the glan, and no cure or remedy suggested.
I also went to the cancer hospital dentist, who said i could possibly have an infection, but did not offer any suggestion or referral to see someone else about it.
I guess i am going to have to try my luck with a doctor outside the cancer scene, and hopefuly get a course of antibiotics to see if it helps
Cheers

What a relief that must be for you Hondo. So glad to read it. Concerned about the darkness though as you are definitely a child of the light. Maybe you need to go to an optometrist and not tell them about the cancer. Praying for your eyesight. May the scales fall away.

Thanks I need the prayers, the optometrist ordered an MRI so I will have that done on Monday. Just hoping it too is all part of the infection0 -

You need to find a good ENT, I am not sure where you live but look on the internet, what I did was to find an older ENT doc who’s been around and seen most everything.
Wishing you the best my friend, never give up0 -

Thanks and you guys have a happy hoilday
hondo I have to ask you did you have any ear infection before you had your cancer treatments or not? I dont know if you remember how I found out my cancer but I can say I had a massive ear infection that lead upto my NPC and when I see my ENT doctor again I am going to ask him if I would have more common ear infections after year or so after all treatments stop. Because right now I only have one tube in my ear and that is in the right ear and the radiation doctor could not believe that my left ear didnt get a ear infection during and after treatment. But its good to hear that you ENT doctor found this.0 -

No I did not have any infections that I can remember, I lost hearing in the right ear then about 4 months later they found the NPC cancer. I too got tubes put in, at first just on the right ear but after a year I had to get them put into both ears. And yes that is when I started having a lot of ear problems and infections that hurt like hell.
Take care my friend, life is great and a blessing everyday to be alive0
