I think at Christmas time, we all can remember special times or something that happened at Christmas when we were little that can bring a smile to our face. I thought it would be fun to share them on here.

    Christmas was always so much
Christmas was always so much fun at our house. My parents and my siblings would always decorate the tree together with hot chocolate and lots of laughs. We could put on the lower Christmas ornaments, and, throw the tinsel here, there and everywhere with Christmas music playing in the background. My father always placed the angel at the top of the tree and we would all applaud and smile because the tree was finished! It didn't always look the best, but, you would think it was the most beautiful tree ever by the way my parents would act.

We would wrap gifts and eagerly run to the tree to place them. There would be so many and we would all shake them and make guesses as to what was in them.

One year I could NOT wait until Christmas to know what was in my presents, soooooooooooo, one night when everyone was sleeping, I got up and unwrapped a lot of my presents to know what was in them. To my excitement, I had gotten everything I had asked for. I was sooooooo happy! I rewrapped them and put tape everywhere to try and disguise the fact that they had been opened. But, guess what? It wasn't that good of a job.

My parents weren't mad about it, but, just wanted to make sure it didn't happen again. So, for future Christmas's, my Dad would tie the door shut to the family room at night, so that I couldn't get to my presents without everyone knowing that I did. Darn it lol

But you know, knowing what I had before Christmas, even though it was exciting at the time, did really take away from unwrapping and seeing what I got on Christmas day with the rest of my family, so, I never even tried or wanted to again.

Ok, that is one memory! Hope you enjoyed it!

    I don;t have any specific
I don;t have any specific memories...just lots of excitement, joy, family time, playing in the snow (glad I don't have to deal with it now in Northern CA!), good food, treats in the stockings....

    Merry Christmas!

    Making cookies!
I always helped my Mother make the Christmas cookies and decorate them. My decorations weren't quite as pretty as hers, but, she always made me feel that my cookies looked the best! Hers always looked like something out of a magazine. And, we would wear matching aprons that had a snowman on them. She still has them! LOL

My Dad would make homemade peanut brittle and was it good! He usually wanted everyone out of the kitchen, so, he could concentrate on it. Guess we were a little annoying to him. LOL But, that's what kids do, isn't it?

Thanks for bringing up this memory Megan.

    Great topic!
I can't wait to read all these! Mine is probably going after a Christmas tree. We would go out to some friends land in the country and chop down out tree. We would all, My Dad, Mom, brother and sister and sometimes my Nannie walk and look and look till we found the perfect tree! My Dad would chop it down and carry it to the truck. When we got it home it was always bigger it seemed than in the woods. Daddy would trim it and get it in the stand and out came the decorations! What fun we would have. I loved this part of Christmas. God Bless

    I have 2
favorite memories. The first is going with my family to cut down the tree which we continued with our own children. My husband and I still do this. The other is my grandmother was an excellent seamstress and made the most beautiful flannel nightgowns for us every year :-)

    I bet besides the good
I bet besides the good smells of the cookies baking, there was a lot of laughter in your kitchen Lex. My sister and my mom used to bake the sugar cookies too together. Such good, fun times.

We even cheated and had a magazine with pictures of cookies all decorated and copied them. They looked good! hehe

    great idea, Megan!
I have such wonderful Christmas memories, its hard to choose just one as my favorite. Christmas eve was always so exciting, it was almost impossible to fall asleep!
My mom would make us hot cocoa and let us put a candy cane in it, that was pretty wonderful.
There were 4 kids and we got alot of gifts-lots of toys- and got to keep all of them in the living room all day long to play with. The girls always got a doll. We would eat the goodies out of our stocking all day. There was always plenty of candy, fruit and nuts. I could go on and on!

    Not bad
NO, I was NOT bad! lol Just curious? I am still like that today even. My hubby hides gifts for me at his job, cause he knows if I know they are here, I just might take a lil peek. :))))))

    My favorite memory is this...

I had 3 sisters and 2 brothers and we lived in a large old Victorian home with high ceilings. My parents always had a huge tree. My mom put unbreakable ornaments towards the bottom of the tree. She would only let the little ones (me) put on the unbreakable (plastic stars, etc) ornaments.

I begged her and begged her to let me put on the glass ornaments and finally got her to agree. I then broke the first glass ornament I tried to put on the tree!

We all laughed and I had to wait a while longer before I could try again.

My tree is almost all glass ornaments--maybe because I am trying to prove that I am finally grown up ;-)

    Many, all involve my Grandma,
she's been gone 39 years today. You know, I can still hear her voice. She was 62 - just 5 years older than I am now. Really weird concept.

    Silent Night
This isn't a favorite memory, but one I will never forget!! I was about 6 years old and was to sing a solo of "Silent Night" in church on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, I started singing "Away in a Manger". I can still see the startled look on the organist's face when she looked over at me in horror. I quickly realized my mistake and switched to "Silent Night". To this day, I am really nervous about performing any music in public, and I'm sure it goes back to this event.

    When our daughter was about
When our daughter was about 4 years old I sent her and her daddy out to pick the tree. They came back with the most Charlie Brown tree you have ever seen. I am talking spindles, dropping needles, sparse and with bare spots. I looked at Den and started to get upset because I thought he just didn't want to bother and had grabbed the first tree he saw. He put his fingers up to his lips to shush me so I held my tongue, barely. After Denise had gone to bed he told me that she walked up to this sad little tree and said that was the one she wanted, that it was the prettiest, nicest tree she had ever seen. He just couldn't tell her no. So the next day we decorated it and I don't know how it transformed that night but it was the most beautiful tree I ever saw because now I was seeing it through the eyes of my baby girl. We have had many trees, all wonderful but no tree will ever live in my heart as that Charlie Brown tree that my daughter loved so much. I still get teary eyed remembering. Oh, the sweet innocence of childhood. Thank you for letting me share this memory. It is one of my most dear.

    I loved waking up really
I loved waking up really early in the morning and running back to my parents bedroom and saying "get up..I want my presents". LOL I think they always stayed in bed longer on Christmas day, just to have my sister and brother and me wake them up.

Dad would put on his Santa hat and would pass out the presents, one by one, while we all sat there in our pajamas just dieing to know what might be inside.

We would have wrapping paper and ribbons and bows everywhere. A lot of the bows would end up on my Dad's head. LOL He didn't care, he would let us do anything.

Then, all day we would be playing with our toys, trying on new clothes and just spending a wonderful day together.

Love the post too Megan! Thanks!

    I remember how our stockings
I remember how our stockings hung on the fireplace would be packed with all kinds of things. Our stockings were huge, so, my parents could get a lot in there. Not only would we get the traditional orange and candy canes, but, we would get jewelry, little toys, money, and a new ornament for us to put on the Christmas tree.

Our Christmas tree always had the ornaments that we kids made at our school. They weren't pretty, but, my parents adored them. They still put them on the tree. LOL

We would sing Christmas carols and drink eggnog and just have the best Christmas ever.

Christmas always brings back those good memories and we still talk about them ever year with lots of laughter and smiles.
