Newly Diagnosed
Dear Shelly,
So sorry to hear the news. I was diagnosed in July, seemingly healthy except for about two weeks of constipation.
Your fighting and positive attitude will carry you far, and though it's sad that you got here, the Warriorettes on this list are treasure troves of information and positive energy.
All the best , and God Speed on your road to recovery,

Shelly:
So sorry we have to
Shelly:
So sorry we have to meet, but welcome to the board. I too had a hysterectomy (a total) and found out after the fact that I had endo adenocarcinoma. Therefore, I had to have another surgery for staging. I too felt great after my hysterectomy. I was nervous about meeting the gyn/onc and had to wait over three hours for my appointment! Nonetheless, my staging surgery went well and at that surgery everything was negative! May you have the same!
Also, even though my staging surgery came back negative (testings and washings), I had preventative treatment so I had the protocol treatment. I had a port put in. (out patient surgery). That was back in 2005.
The main thing is to stay positive. Also, don't look at too much on the internet. A lot of it is outdated.
My best to you,
Kathy0 -
Shelly welcome to this site
Sorry you have to join us. I am sorry you have to have surgery again for the staging. I am so glad that my gyecologist referred me to gyn/onocologist so I could have the staging done at the same time I had the hysterectomy. Glad you are feeling good right now. We all understand you feeling nervous, scared and emotional at this time. No one if ever prepared to hear that "cancer" word. Continue to try to be as strong as you can and maintain a positive outlook. That will get you a long way. There will be days though when you can't be as strong as you would like, and that is okay, too. I'll keep you in my prayers. In peace and caring.0 -
Hi Shelly
I too am sorry that you had to join this discussion board, but there is not a better place to get info and support! I have found the women on this board are very generous in their sharing of info and incredibly supportive. This is a safe place to ask questions and also to vent on those days when you need such release.
Let us know what you find out when you see the GYN-ONC. Once you have that meeting, you will have a much better idea about what is in store and what plan is best for YOU! I encourage you to do back and read some of the old posts here as there is a wealth of info and it will give you some ideas about the issues as well as questions to ask. The main thing right know is to know what Stage and Grade your cancer is....that will guide the treatment plan.
I was diagnosed with endometrial adenocarcinoma, Grade 2/3, Stage 3A in May, 2008 and completed radiation and chemo in Dec. 2008... SO I have been NED (no evidence of disease) for 2 years and am finding that life is good. So please do not despair!
Keep us posted....and hoping that you get helpful info from your GYN/Onc . Look forward to hearing more from you!

Shelly,
You came to the right place for support. These boards are a great source of support and information-and I know they helped me when I was scared and helped me feel like I could get thru' my treatments etc.
I had a complete hysterectomy end of Feb 2010, and removal of fallopian tubes, ovaries, and some lymph nodes: uterine cancer stage 3C. Following surgery I had sandwich therapy of 3 chemos, followed by 25 radiations, followed by 3 more chemos. My last chemo was Nov 2nd. I am still waiting for my bloodcounts to return to normal from the chemos. My CA125 cancer marker test is a 5. 0-34 is considered normal for CA125 test.
You can do this, and we are all here for you!

Happy to have you "on board" as we sail through this rough storm together. When I first found this web thing, I was amazed at how many women are going through this battle. It boggles my mind to hink about the many women who never have, or ever will even go online!
Hopeful girl 1, was wondering if your diagnosis is anything like mine? was dig with uterine carcinosarcoma stage 3 - had hysterectomy in May of '10 then it came back, so I've been dealing with a bleeding tumor, which radiation helped stop the bleeding, but still have a fowl discharge.
Started chemo last week, still trying to understand more about blood tests. It's my goal to be one of the longest living survivors, and I'm doing all I can.
Yes, you "can do this"

Hi Susan,
I, too, had a bleeding tumor on my vaginal cuff. The bleeding stopped towards the end of the 10 radiation treatments (IMRT). The radiation stopped in mid-October and I still have a yellow yucky discharge which infrequently has an unpleasant odor. My gyn onc said it is a result of the tumor dying. Can't wait for it be totally DEAD!!! I am Stage 4 UPSC Grade 2 and have finished my second cycle of GEMZAR.
What chemo are you being given? Good luck positive vibes and prayers are coming your way.
Peace and hope,
JJ0
