stomach pains

Does anyone else have daily mild stomach pains? I went to the doctor last week and see said he didnt' 'feel' anything when he palpated my abdomen. My scan is on Friday. These daily, almost constant, stomach pains have me worried of course. Bowels are moving fine.

    i too have abdominal pains almost daily. I figure it is from my bowel ressection done last year and i have a hernia umbilical one and i worry i will get a bowel obstuction eventhough i am going several times a day, my dr says it is a possibiliy. i alo have two new areas in the abdomen so that could be causung me pain also. amy 2nd chemo is thursay. good luck with your scan and keep me posted.....stay strong...Val

    I had continual addominal pain on some chemos.
    My oncologist said that addominal pain is one of the most common side affects of all chemo drugs. He said the digestive system has a lot of fast-growing cells in it, and that chemo attacks those fast-growing healthy cells as 'friendly fire' while it's going after the malignant cells. So, although I always make him press around and feel around for any possible trouble, I believe him that this is a side affect and NOT cancer progression. ((((Nancy)))).

    stomach pain is listed as a side effect of this expirmental medication. I hope this is the case. Unfortunately it is coupled with bloating. I've been trying to back of gassy foods after having Chili for dinner two days in a row. In the absence of a bowel obstruction is there any other reason cancer could cause abdominal pain? It is more stressful to my mind then it is painful to my body!!!

    Linda, did you ever say what your oncologist game plan was for you?

    I think it's the chili! (& the clinical trial:a side affect!)
    Please try not to stress; it really sounds like a combination of your diet and your treatments.

    I started carboplatin as a single agent chemo on Thursday, and will get it every 3 weeks. I'll be getting another CT/PET in late February to see if this chemo is working. After taxol failing me and doxil failing me (with disease progression during treatments with both) I REALLY need carboplatin to WORK! CA125 is an excellent marker for me, so I'll have CA125 taken before each infusion and should have some indication just before New Year's if carboplatin drops my numbers. I'm at an all-time high CA125 of 292. (CA125 was 90 before my surgery in fall 2008; and spiked from 11 to 155 with my 1st recurrence.)

    If the carboplatin doesn't work, they're talking Gemzar, and I'M looking at radio frequency ablation of my liver mets.

    You and I BOTH need some good news, & soon, to reinvigorate our HOPE. I believe we'll both get that good news this month. Try to live in the moment, with joy.

    I have been having stomach cramps and shooting pains for a few weeks now. They started while I was in hospital while I still had doxil in my body. I was bloated too with very regular bowel movements (6 times a day). The doctors did a abdominal x-ray, an ultra-sound and a CT scan and the results were............ EVERYTHING IS JUST FINE. So I guess its got to be the affects of the chemo.

    I had 2 bowel resections in Feb. along with my debulking. Then had IP as well as IV Chemo. Since my surgery, I have had abdiminal cramping everyday. I also have issues with digestion. My GI doc says all my CT's and bloodwork are fine. I also have had a colonoscopy that showed nothing. My GI doc also sayd that not enough of my colon was removed to cause issues. So then why do I have cramping everyday? no one knows. So, i take bentyl everyday along with meds for diarrhea. I guess this is just part of the "new normal." It was much worse during chemo. My last chemo was July 9th. Since then it has gotten better but is still an issue and I still have to take meds. My GI doc thinks it will get better with time. He thinks it's because of the surgery and then dumping chemo into the abdomen 6 weeks after surgery for 4 1/2 months. He thinks my body just didn't have time to heal. I don't know. seems like we have so much stuff to deal with on top of just dealing with cancer. But, as long as I am NED, i will deal with anything I need to. :)Hope this helps a little.

    Stomach pain/discomfort persists daily. Sometimes it is about an 1hr or two after meals. I feel very full. Sometimes food helps my stomach feel better. I am very gassy and sometimes have heartburn. I am taking an expirmental oral medication that needs to be taken on an empty stomach. A possible side effect of this medication is stomach pain. I'm learning to live with the constant discomfort.

    doxil and pain
    I just finished my 6th round of Doxil and experiencing much pain on my left side around my rib cage. At times, difficult to breathe. I go to docs today to see if it is anything more than residual effects. I'm hoping it's nothing too...I'm supposed to be off chemo for two months before we start a 4th line of treatment. This is my vacation time from chemo - doesn't feel that way.

    How long have you been NED? and also what has been your CA 125 pattern? Sorry if I'm asking too many questions,I guess I am looking for re-assurance with my recent CA 125 spike.
