Although I haven't seen the book personally, I saw this article and thought it may be helpful to those who are experiencing eating difficulties. Every little bit helps when your dealing with the dreadful side effects of treatment.

    Scooped!
I had been thinking of suggesting that key folks in this group could contribute to a similar cookbook - of course, someone else thought of it! I'm certainly going to order it - if a bunch of us buy it, perhaps we can take turns trying out recipes and sharing.

Hey, I'm down for that. I have been wanting to try and be helpful to those of us that have problems swallowing. I have been working on recipes and I have been posting some that I have figured out that work well for me on my blog here.

The proceeds of the book go towards mouth and oral cancer charities. Good cause to purchase the book.

    Cookbook
There is also one written by speech pathologists who specialize in swallowing disorders and is available at amazon. This also gives calorie counts per serving so for those looking to count calories it is helpful.

Thank you Sash. My dentist also told me that SPOHNC also has a book or recipes as well in a book they send out to cancer patients for free with info you would need when first diagnosed but I've not checked into that yet.

I don't know, the book is from the UK and you might have heard that their food is not the best. I can say this with some kind of knowledge because my husband is a Brit. He eats some pretty gross stuff, marmite, salad cream, bubble and squeak etc.(though I kind of like bubble and squeak!) I'd prefer to find a U.S. version, lol. Shelly

    Haha! Funny
I was through Great Britain for two weeks and only has one bad meal. Couldn't understand what all the bashing was about for British food. I had some great food there actually. Lol

Wellll I don't know what to say really other than we have a difference in taste I guess. I was there also for 3 weeks in 95 visiting my husbands family. The food was different, very bland. Fried breakfast, digestives, afternoon tea it just isn't as good as other ethnic foods I guess. Compared to Mexican, Indian, Thai, Vietnamese etc. it's just very bland food. I did have a great Pot Pie in Taunton at a place called Number 8 but other than that I couldn't tell you much about the food, it was so forgetable. Also there where NO Mexican restaurants, gasp. Indian is there Mexican which is fine I love Indian, but sometimes you just want a really good burrito!!

    Just like "American Food"
One could say the same about American food - you need to really dig and get into regional specialties to get good food. Lots of folks think American food is all MacDonalds or KFC - we do our best to educate them, either by cooking for them or taking them to places we know will deliver.

I recall a dinner I ate in Scotland (some inn, about 30 minutes from Aberdeen). We ate various appetizers of smoked meat (venison, salmon, some kind of water fowl, boar, beef, lamb, etc.) and really good cheese for a while, waiting for our table. Then we got dinner - I had a rack of lamb that made me weep, I don't remember what my friends had, but one involved bits of meat and vegetables in a crust you could read print through, it was so flaky. We didn't have room for dessert - a pity, as it looked really good.

I hear Wales has even better food. . .

    Can't remember all the
Can't remember all the places that we ate whilst running around Great Britain, but I do remeber the best dishes. I had a spaghetti bolognese in some tiny little place in London that was near 'The Clink' that was to die for. I had a chicken and wine dish in this tiny hole in the wall in London, that I remember was decorated with money all over the walls. Coins, bills, all kinds of money from all around the world. The chicken was succulent and tastey. I had a Cornish Pasty somewhere in the Cotswolds that made me weak in the knees and we took a high tea somewhere that i ate so much I thought i would explode. I also had excellent Chinese food in Glascow. The haggis in Edinburgh sucked tho. :P tasted like nothing but hot black pepper. Hey, I tried everything. LOL.
