I have only been a year NED, and just ate a donut hole and had a glass of wine. And I feel such guilt!! I take a bite and say tumor, I take a sip and say another tumor..... It's awful, Am I contributing to it voluntarily! Cancer... horrible, just horrible.... I never even used to eat sweets...it's that dang cancer. I hate cancer...

But can't complain too much, it's better then the alternative.

Went to see Burlesque, it was good. Love this song by Cher.

    being human
    Nana,
probably no need to worry or feel too guilty. We are all human and occasionally break our own rules. It is not too bad to occasionally 'stray' of the sometimes difficult path (assuming you are following the Anti-Cancer diet). About 6 months back I had an stupid attack and went in and ordered 1 piece of KFC. I guiltily gnarled it all up like a junkyard dog, and then went through what you did. I also was reminded of the '0' nutrition value and the 100% nasty effect of the oils, the batter (whatever it is) and the poor shriveled morsel of chicken wold have on any body let alone one fighting cancer. I have been a good boy most of the time since then.

I discovered Black Chocolate and red wine (Esp Pinot Noir) are on the list of Anti-angiogenesis foods so I now partake in a small piece of Dark chocolate a few times a week and love it. I also have a very small glass of Red wine once in a while. I am 15 months out and have had 2 all clear PET CTs and generally follow the strict diet. If you think how much garbage many people eat, your donut hole is probably the 'hourly' consumption of some of those people so you must be well ahead of the eight ball with whatever you are doing. Just keep stacking the deck on the right side in your favor.

    Stay well

I agree with Ron. I am putting my body in charge of food. It knows better then I do what to and what not to eat. My problem is sometimes the body and the mind don’t agree. The mind listens to other people, while the body is a stubborn SOB that listens to no one else.

A good example of this conflict was the crap storm I just went thru. The mind said that the fruit cocktail was good for me. The body said stay the hell away from that. My body had also told me earlier that day to not have that damned McRib & fries, but to have a double cheeseburger & fries. I think the mind got caught up in the marketing of the McRib.

Well the spirit part of me is the one that has the final say in this. Last night it put the body totally in charge of intake.

You fought hard to win the prize....life!
Generally, I watch what I eat....fresh fruits and vegies, watch my fat, all of that...

    BUT,

If I crave something, I treat myself! AND ENJOY EVERY MINUTE of it!!!! I learned this as a young teen, when I carried too much weight and no diet worked. The buzz word is moderation. Just like Ron and Kerry have said...it's about how much indulgence you do....

There is a special treat in The Netherlands called oliebollen. It's basically a deep-fried ball of dough sprinkled with a half inch deep layer of powdered sugar. A few bits of apple try to make it healthy...but, no fooling, it's not!!! I am already smacking my lips in anticipation....it's a treat sold from carts outside...where it's cold and oftentimes dark...but the smell, and the taste...mmmmmmmm!!!

    Hugs, Kathi

    you naughty girl, you!
Relax, Raquel- it's not as if you just snarfed down a whole bunch of Christmas cookies (like I just did at my sister in law's- lol! She had my girls over for some baking)
Allow yourself to live a little- a glass of wine and a little donut hole isn't going to do you in.
Glad you had a nice night out at the movies. I'm looking forward to seeing the new Narnia movie that came out last night. Didn't do it yet, so maybe next weekend...

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a good week!
