Pain in the Head HONDO Up-date 12-16-10
After he looked into my ear he realized that there was a lot more to the story and so I told him yes I had Cancer at one times in my life but on my last PET at MD Anderson I showed that I was Cancer free.
After he finished his examination he told us that I have a very bad Bilateral Mastoid Infection, I ask him to explain what he was talking about, and he did a very good job at that.
Most if not all of my pain in the head for the passed many months could be coming from this Infection. He has me on some very strong antibiotics trying to kill the infection. I am glad that we were persistence and did not give up when first told possible just more side affects of your treatment.
If any of you are suffering with pain in your head get your ENT to check you for possible Mastoid Infection and don’t give up until you are satisfied that you have an answer. I know that as a survivor my life has pain in it that I must learn to live with; I just don’t need any additional pain.
Take care my friends, I am hopping for the pains to start to ease up some over the next few days.

Hondo,
This sounds promising to say the least. I hope that in a few days you are back here telling us that the med's are working. I truely hope so as you have been through enough as it is.
You Take Care of Yourself, I'm sure you will because you don't give up and have that CAN-DO attitude...

Scam
What we found is that once a doctor hears the word Cancer that is what they start looking for. So this time we said nothing about Cancer until asked by the doctor and then he started asking me questions about my ear and pain that is when he told us about the infection. Having tubes in both ears he said just one little drop of water can cause terrible problems and infection for the inner ear.
All the best to you my friend0 -

Just knowing that you are praying for me helps keep the pain down, and remember I too have your name taped to my wall in prayer.
May God watch between us in our prayers0 -

My brother-in-law the doctor/researcher recently reminded me that medicine was an art and not a science (otherwise, we could use computers now). I'm glad you seem to be on the right track for your head pain. Infections can be difficult, and picking the right antibiotic can be tough without a culture. Make sure you take the antibiotic prescribed exactly as directed so that the doctor will be able to make good choices in a day or two if it does not seem to be helping (one of the doctors' biggest questions can be: is the drug not working or is the patient just not taking it consistently?).
Good luck!0 -

SAME SCHOOL OF THOUGHT
Seems like doctos all think in just one diection if you give them too much infomation to start with. "Oh you have or had Cancer, then there is a pre scripted path to follow."
It is sad that you have to leave out such a huge piece of your histoy to force the doctor to think outside of the box.
Anyway, it may have been fustating, but you finally got the answer to a long sought after issue.
BEST

I kept this quote in mind when dealing with my doctors. A little more doctor intervension was needed this time but I still feel there is a great deal of truth in this little quote.
The art of medicine consists in amusing the patient while nature cures the disease.

Hi Everyone 12-16-2010
Here is the up-date, my Pain for the last 6 months has been between 7 & 8 I am one week into using antibiotic to treat this Mastoid infection and the pain is now down between 2 & 3 which is normal pain for me. I am just glad I finally found a doctor to hear what I was telling him.
Another problem that is just now coming about and I don’t know if it has anything to do with the infection is my eye sight. For the last few weeks I have been getting darkness in my eyes it is more on the left side where the Mastoid was infected but the eye doctor is concerned because I have it in both eyes. So here we go again I just hope the darkness goes away once the Mastoid infection clears up.
But the good part is that the Pain is down.0 -

Well I'm glad that your pain has decreased but I don't like to hear about the problem with your eyesight. Hoping that the pain continues to lessen and the eyesight returns to normal.0
