I describe it as my mouth is as dry as the Sahara desert. I am now a Biotene addict. 2.5 more weeks I'm so jealous!! I have 9 days down out of 33. Your almost there!! Good luck to you. Shelly
Ah the Sahara... a rainforest compared to the desolate wasteland that is my mouth. You're at 10 today. Almost a third done! I'll wait for you at the finish line with nice cold glass of biotene on the rocks with a splash of caphosol.

Yeah I have my biotene sprayadventurebob said:overnight paste
Biotene makes a gel/paste that is long lasting. I read about Sweetblood doing it and tried it. It works well. I wake up much less dry than normal. It is kinda nasty tasting to me right now so it doesn't work well during the day. Might be just the thing for you Mike. Good luck.
Bob
Yeah I have my biotene spray bottle next to my bed right now because I'm out of my GC Dry mouth gel. That GC stuff tastes gross to me still.0 -

You know what I've been doing before radsadventurebob said:ine oo
Just yesterday I went to pull my mouthguard out after rads and my tongue came out with it. Then my lips were stuck in that position until I could make it to my water. Same show as yours for the rad techs.
Bob
You know what I've been doing before rads is squirting a little biotene gel in to make it more comfortable. It helps a little, but I didn't ask if it was ok to do that, I guess I should, huh? Shelly0 -

Just last night I was in deep concentration in my office working. My 6-yr old walks in, asks me a question and when I went to answer, I realized my dry lips had fused together. Damn that sucks! Dry mouth like you've got Crazy Glue on your lips. He was cracking up laughing and called to my wife and daughter to come watch daddy try and open his mouth. It took some effort and I put on a good show for them.
I know the feeling, I was working outside one day and my wife came up as said you have white lipstick on or something, it was dry spit and had my lips stuck together. I headed inside really fast when she went for the water hose.0 -
Sorry my computer was freaking out and posted this 3 times?adventurebob said:ine oo

my kids keep asking me if I have had something to eat and they want to know why mommy has suddenly become a messy eater. I hate to tell them that it isn't food, but dry mouth. I am so busy drinking water all day and I was drinking non-stop through radiation that when the doctor asked if I had dry mouth I said, I don't think so...then I went 10 minutes without my water...it left me with a kitty litter feeling in my mouth...I still wake up at 3 am and drink 3 glasses of water...then again at 6 to get the kids up and my husband still hasn't caught on that I am crank because I haven't had my water and my tongue is sticking to my teeth and my mouth piece! My mom noticed the pile of glasses next to my side of the bed and asked me if I really needed for giant cups of water...I replied, if you want me to try to eat then yes. when I go out to eat I love watching the waiters get me glass after glass of milk and water without ice! They get good tips...I want to try to eat like a normal person...I just need tons of fluids to sort of do it!0 -
Biotene before rads an issue?kingcole42005 said:You know what I've been doing before rads

You might want to double check that. I used aquaphor and Biafine creams on my exterior skin, and was told that neither should be applied for four hours before each radiation session. I'm wondering if an application of moisturizer to the interior would be subject to the same limitation?

I am not sure if you can but try using a mouth spray at night, I use stoppers 4 it works really good for me. Instead of having two big bottles of water by the bed I now only have a small ½ way filled bottle. When I go our to eat I too order a large glass of water with lemon and no ice please, they always give me that funny look.
Take care and keep posting

Stoppers 4 is over the counterfisrpotpe said:Stoppers4
I have used Stoppers4 for at least 8 years, after trying everything else I came across it. Have not even tried anything since, it is a huge relief.
I have just had serious dry mouth the last week, why it suddenly kicked in, I would sleep at night and have build up of phlem that turn crusty around my mouth, Now its turns real dry and scary at times. I can feel the build up in my throat till I break it loose, I have gotten up a few times a night and got my Biodene spray...ala...sweetblood, I also notice i am sleeping longer, hours, is it because of restless sleep or lack of oxygen...I will ask My Cancer Doctor coming up. Thanks. Dennis0 -

Never tried that one...used all the products Biotene makes...also like oasis made by Sensidyne but have not been able to find it any more...'saw a new one on the shelf they make that is for dry mouth but have not been able to find it now that i need it ...One thing for all the dry mouth folks is to use the anti cavity non alcoholic mouth every day religiously along with fluoride jell ...Had a Dentist that does reconstructive jaw surgery tell me i needed about $10,000 worth of cavities refilled that where under my crowns...Shocked me...went to my regular Dentist and he did them for $2000...This happened in only 4 months from my last check up and cleaning ...I now live on anything Fluoride... almost...And slowed it down ... Also Checked out Neutrasal that was suggested on the Board but the cost was $877 for one months supply...I think it was primarily used during the treatment time to help mouth sores...but was good for dry mouth too..0 -
