Quick Update on My Mom Ginny 1/13/11
Wow..it has been one looong day! I have been awake since 3 am. Mom went into surgery at 8 am this morning. They told me it would be anywhere from 5 to 7 hours of surgery, and 3 hours in recovery. It has now come to that 7th hour, mom is off the bypass pump, her blood pressure is good, she just has some bleeders they are waiting to stop. The valve has been replaced and the bypasses have been completed. Thank you as always for all of your prayers! I will update again as soon as I know more.
Love,

Thank you all for your replies. As of this morning she is still in recovery, but should be being moved to another room this afternoon. She is doing pretty good, a lot of chest pain of course. That is what pain meds are for. She just had a breathing exercise and did well. Thank you all for your many thoughts and prayers. Praise the Lord for being with us yesterday, today, and always. Praise the Lord for Lynchburg General Hospital all of the wonderful drs. and nurses! I will keep you updated as I can. Hugs to all of you.

Tina,
It is great to hear that things are going well for your Mom. I know it has been a long journey to get to this point and Monday was a long day for both your Mom and you.
We will keep praying for positive progress and a reduction of pain.

Hello CSN Family
Thank you for all of your replies! Mom was moved up to the 3rd floor yesterday afternoon. She sat up in bed, ate lunch, sat in the recliner, and walked with a walker to the elevators to go to her new room on the 3rd floor! Praise the Lord. She is now in a nice private room, a lot more quieter. She is resting well, and doing a great job! Thank you all as always!! Talk to you again in a few days.

Tina,
So glad your mom is in her own room! Sounds like she's doing pretty good. How long will she be in the hospital? Give her a hug for me! Carole0 -

Tina,
Wonderful news. I am sure you both will be much better at home around the things she knows and loves. Hopefully she can get some home health care if you need the extra help and you can save her from having to go out in this awful cold weather.
Enjoy your holiday with your mom and family. I know you will be missing your dad but he is there in your hearts.
Love and hugs,

Hello my CSN friends
Mom is doing quite well. She does not think so, but I know so! A little sad today, but that is common after major surgery. She had a whole lot of fluid retention in her legs and feet which popped out in huge blisters on Friday morning. Very swollen feet, ankles, and lower legs. Ugh! As of today...her legs are getting better. She had her first hot shower today! Her incisions are healing well. The current issue we are having is getting her diabetes under control. She has been a diabetic since she was 17. Her diabetes has never really been managed too well. In the hospital, the drs. made note of this and put her on a much newer, better insulin. We are doing our best to stick to a schedule with the testing, taking, and making of meals. This is all new to us. It will all work out. I am asking for prayers for a good recovery and patients for both of us. Thanks to you all, and I am wishing you all a Happy Holiday Season!

Hello CSN family,
As of yesterday, 12/21, I had to put mom back in the hospitsl. Over the weekend she had become very short winded. Getting out of breath very easily. Tuesday morning she nearly fainted in the bathroom. I said...That's it! I am calling 911 and taking you to the hospital, something is definitely wrong! The first aid told me I was making the right decision. After spending 5 hours in the emercency room, she was finally moved to her room at 8 pm. The chest xray showed she has a lot of fluid on her left lung, and fluid around her heart. They are not sure if the fluid is blood or not. It may be coming from too much blood thinner, or it may be her heart bleeding. We will find out more today, and hopefully they will be draining this fluid today. I will keep you posted. What a way to spend the holidays huh? That is ok with us, as long as mom gets better, that is our main concern. Holiday or no holiday. Thank you all.

Hi Tina,
It sure is a heck of a way to spend the holidays, but I am sure in the hospital she will get the treatment to get the fluid away and feel better, glad you called and had her taken in. Prayers will continue and thank you for updating us so well on her progress. Stay strong. take care,

Tina,
So sorry to hear your Mom is back in the hospital. I am sure this time of the year more than any other she would like to be home with her family. But given her symptoms it sounds like she is in the best place right now.
I will be praying they find the source and reason for the fluid in her lung and around her heart and get her back on track to healing quickly.
Special prayers coming your way this evening.
Best Regards,
Paul Adams
