At her fingertips

Linda has had sore fingertips, especially the nails. Today at her scheduled chemo appointment the nurse called everything to a halt and consulted the medical oncologist, who called our gynecological oncologist (different hospital.) The Cisplatin/Taxotere mix was called off for today. I guess the sore nails are a bad sign, and a side effect that possible might not go away? So we're on hold. Anyone know anything about this?

Also, the CT Scan last week showed the tumor is significantly reduced. "Good progress" is all we know, sort of by hearsay within the context of the overall discussion. I'm not there with my wife today (her parents are with her) or I might have asked a few more questions. We're hoping to push up our next scheduled appointment from two weeks to even this Friday for a review of everything.

I've learned to be cautious with all news during treatments. It's good news the tumor appears to be reduced. But not necessarily good news we have to stop chemo. Roughed up as she is, and feeling awful at times, Linda has been getting through. The goal has to be eliminating that tumor. Which could mean a turnabout at this point...or surgery. Who knows?

Like always, it's a blind alley until you get more information.

    And...
Linda pushed for more information and got the gynecological oncologist on the line after talking with the nurse. He told her the CT Scan showed no trace of tumor. Just scar tissue from previous surgeries.

Poor girl is emotionally drained tonight. I was just up talking with her in bed and the tears flow out of relief and confusion. Today was supposed to be her Cisplatin, which flattens her. But instead the pain in her nails cancelled it all. In her words she said, "It was like God said, "That's enough." And, she said, "There's only so much suffering you can take, you know?"

I'm sure many of you know the feeling.

    I'm loving that CA-125
and I due know that feeling. Every month or even week it's seems like it's something else. I think I used to be much less flexible :)
