Good luck
Good luck, Dawne. I hope it goes well for you. The first one wasn't so bad for me, but everyone is different. Drink lots of water today and for a few days after to flush out the drugs. What type of chemo are you getting?
Let us know how you do. We all understand the anxiety you are feeling today.
Hang in there, my sister in pink!

One of the hardest things I ever had to do was walk in and sit down in that chemo chair the first time. It is frightening. But once you do it, I promise it really isn't that bad. Look around you at the other ladies chatting, reading, eating, sleeping, during treatment, and you realize nothing terrible is going to happen to you....take your antinausea meds and you will be fine. Good luck!

Chemo #1
May God keep you in His healing hands today and comfort you as you start your journey to recovery. the infusion day itself is not bad. Yes, do drink lots of liquids to flush out the chemilcals. Take along something to read, a snack, something to drink and think positive thoughts. Let us know your schedule so we can pray for you on the days you go for treatments; prayers are powerful. I am recovering from Chemo #3. This discussion board is full of ladies that have been through it and can answer almost any question you have concerning the experience. Keep writing to us.0 -

Thinking of you, and you made me think of how I reacted.
I was very nervouse and I know my nurse could sense it, so my doc did give me something to calm me down.
Let us know how it goes.

it will be okay. . .
i didn't have time to get scared, had my pet scan and met my ocologist on one day and was in chemo the next morning at 8 am!!! trust me, this is not something any of us want(ed) to do, nor would we wish it on our worst enemies, but the good news is that this is not the end of life as you know it. you will find that you are a strong woman, and will fight this beast.
the most important thing i can tell you is to drink a lot of water, that was not expressed to me and i suffered after the first chemo. and the fact that you have found this site will help immensely. we are here to share and to care and to listen to your fears and vents.

The first chemo is the hardest, since you don't know what to expect. Once you feel comfortable with all your meds it does get easier. I'm not saying that it's a trip to Disney mind you, but it is doable.
Best of luck and keep us posted.
Peace and Love,

Reality does set in when you begin treatment. I hope it all goes well for you. It's good you found this board, it will help you get through.
We've all been there--such a scary time. I remember walking in with my husband, talking a mile a minute (I do that when I'm nervous). I knocked over an empty IV pole, sat down in the recliner and promptly broke the chair! One of the ladies there looked at me, smiled and said, "You must be a newbie!!" I had 6 treatments in all--did very well, met some marvelous women and it turned into a beauty shop gossip/therapy session all in one!
You'll get through this and you'll do great.

Dawne,
I'm sending you BIG
Dawne,
I'm sending you BIG hugs & hoping that your 1st chemo went ok for you today. I felt exactly the same as you throughout my treatment but wanted to give you some encouragement - it goes by very fast. Before you know it, you'll be done. Your hair will start growing back, and you'll feel better. My chemo finished about 6 weeks ago. I'm starting to feel normal again. Getting my energy back, hair is growing in like crazy, no more nausea.
We're here for you while you're going through what is (at least in MY opinion), the hardest part of breast cancer treatment. Chemo sucks but it's so wonderful to have everyone on this site right by your side to encourage you, answer your questions, celebrate with you, cry with you, and just listen to you vent if need be.
I hope you're resting well this evening
*hugs*
