Wow. I got a cool moisture humidifier and I've been using it the last two days. I set it right next to me, right by my bed. That horrible dry tickle that was making my right eye tear is all but gone. I'm coughing way less and I even slept better. It was only about $20 at Walmart.

    I agree with SweetBlood
I have had one in my room, and decide to move it closer to my bed, it does help alot, and it I should get it plugged up 24-7 I inhale the moisture for a few minute every night. My first year coming off of Throat Cancer, I find the cold weather does not prevail well with the throat, and sinus cavities...any more healthful would be appreiated..Dennis..feels like a constant lump of crap in my throat, when I sneeze it's only a half a sneeze..this is killing me...breathing is still ot all there, missing about a 1/4 of openning.

    got the Jumbo size :)
We had a itty bitty one for the bedroom at first. "I don't need this thing! Tell 'em to pick it up!" talking about his compressor with a trach mask for highly humidified air to his stoma. But the itty bitty one wasn't working as well and he realized hey would you look at that I actually do need something the doctors said I needed!!

    No crap Sherlock.

So the itty bitty got moved to the living room, but still wasn't cutting it. So I hunted for a big one. I knew they exisited! Lo and behold I found one at the ACE hardware not far from me. Today is the first day with it and I can already tell a difference. I'm not getting zapped as much, and he isn't coughing as much.

With Larys everyone I've talked to said having humidified air either by adding moisture or by wearing an HME over your stoma is very important. And also in the time of colds and flu, keeping the air in your house humidified cuts down on the germs that can make you sick living long enough to get you sick. Optimal moisture level is 40% to 60% which is also comfy for larys and non larys alike :)

Glad you are feeling more comfy. Hope you don't miss the static ha ha ha.

Oh, don't even go there with me when it comes to getting zapped. :(
it's awful. I am constantly getting shocked. I hate it. I think my body has some kind of weird electricity thing happening. I also cannot wear a watch, it goes crazy and I drain the battery. If this can help me from getting shocked in the house I'm all for it, but I have my doubts. Lol. My grandmother is always cold and we had to put a lock box on the thermostat because she would turn it up to 90 degrees. Literally. So not kidding. I cannot breathe if it's above 70 in here. The dang register is right by my head when I sleep and I even have it closed as much as I can, but it's still annoying. I keep my window open so I can breathe. This humidifier blows cold air so I shut the window. We'll see how I do tonight with the window shut. I'd rather layer stuff on to keep warm, and heat up my rice bag and sleep with that and Nizzy then have too much hot air blowing. Stuffs up my nose.

    Humidifier
We were advised to get a humidifier. Buzz thinks it won't help that much in a large room but from the comments it looks like it might make a difference. He gets #10 out of 33 rads today so we are just getting started. Do we get a cool mist type? Or is that the only kind? We live in New Mexico and it is dry, dry, dry.

Can't speak as to the best
Can't speak as to the best type, but I can say that I slept all night!!!!!! I forgot to put in my dry mouth gel and it didn't matter. I think I woke up briefly, once. If it's a large room maybe get one of the bigger ones. Keep it right next to him. I can't even believe how wonderful it is to sleep like a normal person again. Hope it's not a one time thing. Lol. Was nice to sleep and dream. I should have gotten one from the beginning. I didn't think it would make a big difference but it does.
