NO CHEMO FOR YOU

So, I got a call yesterday from the onc. My platelets are too low, my CEA is up more, and my liver function is starting to show a bad trend (this from Thursday's draw). It all kinda caught me off guard because I was in the middle of a business meeting/lunch and didn't have time or place to ask questions. I expected it was just the call I always get on Friday to remind me of chemo on Monday morning ... but no. Monday I go in for another blood draw to see if I can have chemo but, I was told not to count on having it. I have mixed feelings about it. One I do look forward to having 2 chemo free weeks in a row instead of one. My tastebuds came back this morning. That will give me another week of good tasting to try to get my weight back up some. But, I don't like the idea of just pushing things out any extra time. Want to get things over with so I can have my reversal, hernia and adhesions repaired. Had a really bad day dealing with that stuff yesterday.

BUT ... on a positive note: I thankfully don't have peripheral neuropathy in my butt and upper thighs. I thanked God last night for that as I sat on the cold toilet seat. It's the little things that count!

Lori you are the girl with THE best sense of humour.

take er as she comes. I remember the feeling of never wanting to miss a chemo....you just really want to push on and be done with....but sometimes you just have to give your body a little chance to catch up.....

    you'll get there.....

    hugs....mags

    Sorry for the news
I am sorry to hear more bad news, but look at the positive like you said. Another week to be able to taste food and let your body rest from the chemo. You will get there and this will all be a bad dream soon. Hang in there!

    Hugs,

Was just wondering how you are
Lori, sorry about that news. Everytime I have come on here for some anwers or guidance, you, like so many others, are always there for me with support. You so have all my good wishes, vibes, and support for whatever makes you feel the best. .....and for now if it's cheering for your painfree behind and thighs, then that's what it is!.... Maybe easier said than done I know, but try to get some kind of enjoyment from your two chemo free weeks that you other wise wouldn't have had.

    Oh Lori,
    I understand your

    Oh Lori,
I understand your frustration, I had this "date" in my mind for when it would all end and I oculd have my reversal and each time I has to put back a chemo date due to low counts, I was devestated. BUT..... It will arrive and you will be done before you know it. I know that it does not seem like it at the time it will happen!

    Lori, I am sorry
Sorry for this. I have had my chemo delayed a number of times because of low neutrophils. The first time I was delayed I was kind of in shock, basically asked them to check again. I still don't like being delayed but try to look at it positively, as a means for my body to recover more. I hope today is better than yesterday, + tomorrow is better than today.

    Delay
Sorry about the delay. I must be unusual as I was happy as a clam when I had to delay my Chemo due to Port issues ( couldn't get a blood draw and I had to get a dye study to make sure things were OK ) My husband said I was grinning from ear to ear when I told him I would be off an extra week!

Hopefully you can have your Chemo on monday, but try to make the best of it if you have a delay!

    Hope Everything goes OK!

    Take care,

    Barb

    Dear Lori
So sorry that you may not be able to keep your schedule for chemo. You have had a rough go with this treatment.

Body is just sending signals out to doc that it needs some extra time, attention and pampering.

If you get the chemo Monday that is great. If not try to find some ways to enjoy the free week...since you want to gain some weight back...how about a milk shake and ice cream party...lol.

Hope your body responds well to the break.

    Lori,
Sorry about the delay. I hope you go and enjoy all the food you like that you haven't been able to taste. Enjoy your body having a bit of time without chemo. **** was delayed once or twice and we made the best of it by celebrating the lengthening of the feeling good time.

    Thinking of you.

    Aloha,
    Kathleen

    Lori,

I'm sorry you got bad news that may put chemo off. I too had a certain timeline in my mind as to when chemo would finish. Just know that a small break from chemo is just what you need sometimes. I know it was devastating news for me at first, but then you realise that you get some extra feel good time. It did wonders for my outlook and attitude, it was just the thing to help me gain a fresh pespective and keep up the fight.
