Oh Those Memories

Cancer can not steal our memories.
At first we think memories are born within our minds
But when those tears begin to run on down our cheeks
We feel the tenderness within our hearts and recall another time
Cancer can not steal our memories
Each heartbeat remembers a moment filled with smiles
A time when the simple things like visiting a friend followed like poetry
We also focus on the trials of our lives from those distant times
And like a quiet confidence that comforts us, we sang our song with harmony
Cancer can not steal our memories
No matter how many cracks our heart endures
The momentary pause in between each beat
Takes a baby step as it calms our fears
And whispers to us that our past was once a future
Cancer can not steal our memories
To all of you who have had cancer rudely storm into your lives
Look around today to your fellow survivors within our close community
Each time an encouraging word or an offering of compassion from another who gives
Creates one more memory with its own unique story that we can hold for an eternity

Memories at Christmas
Steve,
Just wondering how you're doing? Just read your post about memories again and since I have so many, it's tough thinking about the upcoming holiday. We always loved Christmas and putting up the tree. And Tom would freeze his a-- off putting up the outdoor decorations, but he knew I loved them, so always did it. Once we lose the love of our life, it's hard to go on. There are so many memories, but when I think of them I get mad because I wanted more. Do you feel the same way? It's hard getting used to the new life of being alone, but we have no choice and have to move on. I'm so thankful for our 3 kids & their families and don't think I could've gotten through this without them.
Hope you're doing okay. keep in touch! "Carole"0
