Angiosarcoma

I was diagnoised with angiosarcoma, post radiation in April of 2004
they did a complete mastdectomy and a skin graft, using skin from my leg.
I have been cancer free until this month. I found a bruse below the scar tissue
from my surgery. This bruse is in the field of radiation from my first breast cancer.in 1997.
I have an appointment with my surgeon on this Tuesday. So far my CT scans of the lungs and liver have been okay. I am hoping this is just a bruse and nothing else. Anyone else had
a reocurrence?

    bruise or not??
    so sorry to read you are or might be having trouble. it is good to know of another survivor of BAS. i am almost 1 yrs free of secondary BAS. doing good. I pray that your appt. went well and that it is truly a bruise. be very vigilant. please post again and let us all know how things went.

    I too have angiosarcoma from breast cancer radiation. how did your appointment go today? Does the doctor think it's a bruise? I have had a recurrance and am still battling with it. I had a lumpectomy 9 years ago and then 2 years ago was diagnosed with angiosarcoma from the radiation of the breast 7 years earlier. I've had several surgeries and the doctors say it's VERY rare that it's this hard to get rid of it if caught early, which they felt they did. I hope you had good news today but if they say it's bruises please keep an eye on them and get back in if they start to change. Don't want to scare you but this is such a rare disease not too many people (including doctors) have any experience with it. My dermatologist that did the biopsy had no experience with it. good luck and keep me posted.

    yet another survivor of BAS. more of us than anyone thinks...how you doing? you say yours was caught early. how small was your tumor or tumors? i had one, pretty good size, but all removed with very good margins. no other involvement of organs. so far so good. did chemo. after tumor was removed. how about you? do they keep removing tumors or bruised skin or what? most drs. have no idea of this cancer. or what it looks like. i was misdiagnosed. would like to read more post from you. good luck wiht everything

    14 year breast cancer survivor
    I was wondering if you both just had radiation or was chemo therapy apart of your treatments. I have had a fast growing lump in my arm that no one is concerned about though only 1 doctor out of 6 could find the lump on their own and they all seem to think it is something different. Some say fat cyst, some say lympoma but all seem to think nothing to worry about except one doctor who thinks they should keep an eye on me and it is of some worry.
    Did you have any MRI's to dertermine what your tumors were?? I have and it comes back inconclusive so I want to have removed or at least biopsied something they don't want to do because they can't see a definate lump. This lump is very much like the lump that grew in my arm pit in just a week, this lump I found one week and in two it had doubled. It sits on my bicept and across tricept so causing difficulties. Doctors basically think that I was cured of my stage 3 with 11 out of 21 positive nodes and therefore don't think it is possible for another cancer. I on the other hand don't believe in the cure but that they have prolonged my life and I am very grateful for that. My grandmother started to get other cysts and lumps after only 7 or 8 years so I know it is possible as I always new it was possible for me to get breast cancer why I was able to find all my lumps and including this one at a pea size.
    I am interested to know all I can and wonder how much pain was associated with your tumors?

    have you had a pet scan?? keep pushing the drs. for test and answeres. no lump should go on without finding out what it is. 10 yrs ago i had stage 1 BC. i had radiation,no chemo. never had any other problems until oct 09. a sm lump and bruise appeared. told by drs. it was a hematoma. ended up being a angiosarcoma of the breast... rather large tumor. it filled with fluid and drained. had no idea i was looking at cancer. it wasn't painful until after i had the biopsy. i had ct and pet. all else in body was clear. i am coming up on my 1 yrs anniv. for this cancer. so far so good. be vigilent and keep insisting for answeres. good luck

    I have had PET scan shows area but inconclusive and not to worry. I have had one MRI inconclusive and more testing required. One lump detected on altra sound that is in lymph node and benign since having a biopsy but why they wouldn't poke around area of concern I will never know and ask for it all the time if not that remove it if you are not sure of what it is.
    Your right about being vigilent because I failed myself the last time for just going with their view on things rather than listening to my soul. I knew something was terribly wrong at an early stage but too healthy looking to be that ill I am sure. I am well built athletic built woman who showed no signs of some disease to them. Chances of cancer very tiny up to the day they had to tell me stage three.
    Now several problems and still too healthy for them to even warrant any testing just like it ever was.

    i'm a little confused.. did you have stage 3 BC, with lymph node involvement ?? now you have a lump under your arm?? if this lump is in a area that can be operated on and the thing removed, why don't they do that?? i would insist. if they don't know for sure what it is ... get it out.. sometimes drs. need that extra push... i'm not that patient with them anymore... one more mess up with mine and i'm off to find a new set.

    1 yr. survivor of breast angiosarcoma
    with this cancer, it's a milestone. anyone with this type of cancer, i wish you all well. it's good to say,again, i'm a survivor.

    Angiosarcoma in my heart - recent survivor
    I had chest surgery in June of this year, 2010 to remove fluid from around my heart. The docs concluded that the cause of the fluid was a tumor, thus, I was diagnosed with cardiac angiosarcoma. I did 6 rounds of chemotherapy. Nonetheless, in October, I found out the tumor is gone! I'm in remission! It has been very rough but each day is getting better. But it's good to find survivors of this type of cancer!!

    congratulations... you are a survivor.. this is a terrible cancer but it can be beat. each one of us that survives tells the medical community, it can be done. don't ever give up on us. what drugs did you have? i do hope you continue to improve and i wish all of us a very healthy and cancer free 2011.

    i am sorry to hear you are haveing trouble again... i think you need to go elsewhere. have a sample removed surgically. does it look like it did before.\? same look to the bruise? AS is so hard to diag. so many false biopsys... go somewhere else.. good luck and keep posting so we all know how you are doing.. don't know where you are, but have them send sample to mayo clinic or another big cancer center.

    Its comforting to hear about your son-in-law's own survival of cardiac angiosarcoma. My best friend had just been dianosed with Cardiac angiosarcoma and it should be the first case we hear in our part of the world.

    Can you please share with us which doctor did your son-in-law seek consultation from? And what had been his treatment? Any information will immensely help us. We are all seeking for some light in this.

    I would love to hear your story. My sister-in-law was recently diagnosed with primary cardiac angiosarcoma.

     

    7/5  open heart surgery for suspected myxoma, 8 cm tumor removed

    docs concluded malignant, invasive

    8/15 brain irradiated for 5 small lesions/mets

    8/17 first round chemo began, ifosfimide

    How is she doing? I have angiosarcoma of the breast and my chemo went well. It was followed with surgery and 37 radiation treatments. My last scan was clear. Take care and best wishes
